State Board Members:
Thank you all for your input in the development of the 2020 AAUW Alabama State Convention. As of today, March 7, only 8 participants have registered for the State Convention. We are extending the registration through March 14 to allow for better participation. All AAUW members across the state who were listed in the MSD when we downloaded the list late last year should have received convention information and the new deadline via e-mail. HOWEVER, your branch may have members who have joined since that time, so it would be best for branch leadership to also send out details and/or a reminder. We have shared graphics and details on Facebook and we also have a Facebook Event for the State Convention, so those are additional great ways to invite your members to learn more.
Also, there are still opportunities for our board members to present! We would like to have 2 board members co-present AAUW 101 during the first session. Assuming we have new members register for the conference, this session would cover AAUW's mission and programs, helping new members understand the value and basics of the organization. Please check out the schedule (included in the e-mail to all members) and let us know if you'd be willing to help with that session or another. If so, please e-mail Zoe at Zoe.Winston@ua.edu.
We need to select a location for the AAUW AL Board Meeting the Friday before the convention. Options include The Levee Bar and Grill, River, or Sitar or we could meet on campus and order Newks to keep things a little more low key. We should plan to meet at 6:30 pm to 9pm to allow for both travel time into town and a reasonable conclusion time. Please complete this online survey to RSVP and rank dinner choices. Completion of the survey is your RSVP, so if you are sending someone else to represent you at the meeting, please ask them to complete the survey.
Finally, please encourage your branch members who will be attending to consider also buying a ticket to the banquet. We will need to sell 20+ tickets in order to offer the banquet. Details are included below.
