Recorded Visitor Numbers
I have in the past week received several phone calls from businesses concerned about decreasing visitor numbers and therefore slimming profit margins. While many of these people are not members of the Chamber of Commerce we still endeavour to support all businesses. Below is information that is collated by MVIC as to the numbers that come through their doors looking for information and suggested places to see and things to do. Their President Scott Lanyon advised that in the last 6 months they have seen a slight decline which would then have a flow through effect to local spend.
I know many of you are concerned about the effects the Cornavirus may have on our town. The Qld Government will be spending $2M prior to the Easter break on advertising to ask people to stay at home and support local tourism operators. Thank you that is great but it's now up to our own region to attract this drive market.
Next Thursday myself, Hinterland Tourism President Kerry Brown, Montville Chamber of Commerce President Shiralee Cooper and a few others are coming together to work collaboratively on how we can promote the hinterland to grab some of that drive market.
My message to you today is to ask if you have any ideas on how as a collective we can promote ourselves I would love the hear from you.

Our volunteer executives have a number of things on the go to help our local economy and I'd like to share them with you so you know we are being proactive and why it is important that you support your local chamber:

We have workshops running usually heavily subsided by government to help you in your business which are advertised on our FB page and in our Newsletter to members.
As always if you have an idea please share, we would love to hear it. If you think you would like to be involved in the Chamber we welcome new executives and we always want new members. Your membership fee help fund the above programs.
