I hope this email finds you well. The COVID-19 virus has everyone understandably concerned especially those who are planning to travel. At present, the Federated States of Micronesia, where I live and work, has one of the strictest travel bans in the world. No one may enter the FSM unless they spend 14 days in quarantine in a virus free country first. Guam is considered separate from the US and to date is virus free. I spent my two weeks there prior to returning to the liveaboard I captain, the M/V Odyssey in Chuuk, FSM. Due to the travel ban, charters have been rescheduled or canceled through the middle of this month and potentially further out if the president of the FSM extends the ban. In the meanwhile, I am maintaining the boat and waiting for this to blow over.
As for Evolution Dive Travel, I have no international trips scheduled until October and November of this year. I'm optimistic that world travel will resume to a normal level by then. I still have a few spaces left for my Truk Odyssey, Palau and Papua New Guinea trips if any of you are interested.
I have not changed anything with the North Carolina Wreck•Shark Shootout scheduled at the end of May or the NC Tec charter later in June. If international air travel is considered hazardous by the public then maybe domestic travel will be less effected. I'm still receiving deposits for these trips and interest is strong.
