Please Support PawPAC's Bill 

Please support AJR 26!  

AJR 26, sponsored by PawPAC, is a bipartisan resolution to protect California wild horses and burros, introduced by Luz Rivas (AD 39) and Marie Waldron (AD 75).  The resolution calls for a moratorium on roundups, and adherence to the tenets of the Wild Free-Roaming Horses and Burros Act of 1971.  Please write or call Assemblywoman Rivas' office to support AJR 26.  The office also has a fact sheet available upon request.

 AB 2607 Mathis: Would create an ombudsperson for the Department of Fish and Wildlife to handle complaints confidentially and exempt them from public view.

 SB 54 Allen &  AB 1080 Gonzalez: Would require all single-use packaging and products to be recyclable or compostable by 2030. —> Inactive file at this time.

 AB 2002 Kalra: Would divest of products tied to deforestation. —> Submit your letter  

 SB 1405 Galgiani: Would ban keeping whales, dolphins and porpoises in captivity for display, entertainment or performance (awaiting committee assignment).  

 SB 1175 Stern: Would ban trophy hunting of specific African species.  Referred to Sen NRW.  —> Submit your letter  

 AB 2117 O'Donnell: Requires pet stores to sell only dogs and cats from public shelters.  Referred to Asm B&P.  —> Submit your letter

 SB 1372 Monning & Stern: Would create a wildlife connectivity plan by removing barriers and creating corridors (awaiting committee assignment).  
 

 AB 2645 Nazarian:  Would provide a court-appointed advocate to represent an abused or neglected animal.  Called "Desmond's Law," seven other states are considering this progressive legislation.  It's significant because it would set a precedent for elevating an animal's status from property to individual with rights.    —> Submit your letter !  

 SB 1041 Hueso:

1. Submit your letter (due March 17 by 5pm).
2. Call your Assemblymember to support

 AB 2059 Kamlager: Would ban chemical toxicity testing on dogs (hearing in Asm JUD March 10).  —> Submit your letter

 AB 1788 Bloom: Would ban the use of rodenticides in wildlife habitat areas (carried over from 2019; awaiting committee assignment this year).

 PawPAC at Vegfest LA this May 3 

We'll have a table at Vegfest LA on Sunday, May 3 at Woodley Park in Lake Balboa (San Fernando Valley) from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.  We'll have our 2020 endorsement list there.  Come and visit to discuss the General Election, the bills, etc. etc!

Wild Horses
The federal wild horse issue continues to escalate with a toxic amendment set to derail the Wild Free-Roaming Horse and Burro Act.  The amendment, by U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), would allow unchecked roundups and sterilizations.  Visit this page and search for the words "shall not apply to--" to read for yourself.

Call and write your representatives to tell them you are OPPOSED to the wild horse roundups.
