Coronavirus Update for Papercourt Members

The Club Remains Open with Conditions effective 21st March onwards

The Main Committee and Training Committee have been giving careful consideration to how to manage the Club and training programme in light of the current Covid 19 situation.  We will consider additional measures as circumstances change.

Our thoughts are with those who are currently in self-isolation or supporting others.

Our members' well-being is our first priority and we strongly encourage you to follow the government’s health advice. Collective, resolute action by all of us will help defeat the virus.  Please do not attend the club if you feel at all unwell, have a fever or a new persistent cough.

Despite the current challenges our club remains open for cruising.

However, the situation is evolving rapidly and we have adapted our operations to maintain the safest possible environment for our members.

Starting from Saturday 21st March:

On water activities

The club racing programme will be suspended.

No member will be required to do duties between now and the 18th April.  We will keep you updated via the newsletter.

The lake is open for cruising/social sailing at any time, but please remember that this is subject to safety boat cover. Only one person per safety boat who must be a qualified safety boat officer.

The Club Duties system will not arrange safety boat cover, so those wishing to cruise must make arrangements with a suitably qualified member to launch, man and recover a safety boat whilst they sail.

Our Spring adult course will be postponed and we will re-schedule once the club is fully open again.

Other training courses are under review and we will update you in due course.

The clubhouse and the changing rooms are closed, but the two disabled toilets will be in use as toilets.

We suggest that members change at home or in the car park and bring their own food and drink.  The main clubroom, galley and bar will not open for the time being.

Social events at the club in the immediate future have been postponed, and we will let you know new dates as soon as we can.

We hope that you continue to enjoy your club as much as possible in these difficult times.

We will provide you with updates via the club website and the newsletter, so please check before coming to the club.

The next newsletter will be on Sunday 29th March but if you have queries in the meantime about any Sailing related activity, please contact the Sailing Secretary on franksbrown1@gmail.com or any of the Main Committee whose contacts can be found on the website.
