COMING TOGETHER BY STAYING APART

So folks, how's everyone doing out there?

It has been seven days like never before but hopefully, everyone is getting along and finding new ways to do the things that mean so much that we might never have fully appreciated.

It's all about what we can do as individuals at the moment and the mantra of washing hands, social distancing and good cough etiquette is vital.

As a sports club we have lots of young people for whom the seriousness of this might not be fully apparent.

We all remember when we were young and invincible.    It's the joy of youth to be not afraid but this is a test of how they can pull together by staying apart and maybe, just maybe saving the life of someone they love.

Don't just assume they realise the importance.  Talk together as families about it.  Life will get back to normal in time but for now, we need to act together for the greater good, just like playing on your team.

KEEPING IN TOUCH

The new look to the website has gone down very well and through that and our social media accounts we have been updating with important messages and fun ways of keeping active.

We have a load of members working in the health service and on the front line of policing, media, retail, energy and so many areas that we are relying on.

As the weeks go by we will do some short Q and A sessions with some of those who are keeping the world moving.

Watch out on social media and the site for those as we look to keep open the lines of communication.

Fo now Linda Farren has recorded a message that outlines what we can all do together.

You can see it right here.

You Can't Keep a Good Man Down

Our very own Colmán O'Drisceoil has been busy in the back garden and getting down with his tech and his hurl to show us some fun drills.  We've been forwarding them from the @ScoilLorcain twitter account and they are well worth getting the kids to watch.  It will improve their hurling and their language skills.

Sinéad and Jen on Film

Sinead Wylde in Camogie and Jennifer Dunne have also been busy on the filming front and have recorded different skills on the Insta accounts which are worth a look as well.

HELPING HANDS

Members of the Adult sections are willing to help out with any assistance on shopping, running errands, walking dogs or whatever is needed by those in need.

Give them a call on 086 8895067 if you are struggling.

KEEP IN TOUCH WITH TEAMS

Try and keep in touch with your teams and groups on social media.  Why night try and organise a quiz on whats app or online so that the lads and the girsl still feel as though they are part of a team.

Let technology be your friend and if you don't know how, put a call out to fellow mentors and parents or across the club.  There is plenty of help and we will look to share smart ideas on social and online.

Play Online Now

Next week's Lotto jackpot is €3,100.  If you're not in you can't win.

Last Sunday night's numbers were 2,10,11,24

The Lucky Dip winner who will have €100 posted to them was Brian Mullally

ONLINE RESOURCE FOR COACHES

Sure when we are at home and off the training fields why not take the chance to swot up on the coaching resources that are available online.

The Player pathway tells you what level of development the players should be at while there are a host of videos and drills to make you as good a coach as you can be.

Visit the Cuala Coaching Centre online here.

SHUTDOWN

In keeping with the news above all social activities at the club are suspended until we get through this.  Smaller meetings can obviously be held but Social Hurling and Gaelic 4 Mothers and Others will be back in time.
