HABA Members,

This year has been a whirlwind. We hope that everyone is well and staying safe and within their own homes. Due to the Coronavirus we will be postponing the April CLE until further notice. This month's newsletter is short due to many events being cancelled. Remember take care of yourselves and practice correct social distancing. We hope to have better news for you next month!

  • Workers' Comp Assistant Chief Judge: The Workers' Compensation Judge will: 
    • Fairly and impartially resolve disputed claims and issues by conducting settlement conferences, administrative conferences and hearings;
    • Rule on procedural and evidentiary issues, determine admissibility of evidence and credibility of witnesses, interpret questions of law and fact, and issue decisions determining entitlement to workers' compensation benefits in accordance with applicable law;
    • Maintain expertise in workers' compensation law, rules of evidence and judicial procedures.

  • Healthcare/Regulatory Attorney: The Midwest-based law firm Fredrikson & Byron seeks a healthcare/regulatory attorney to join its thriving practice serving businesses in medical device, biopharma, health IT, health care provider, and food and agriculture markets.  The candidate must have prior legal experience in government (FDA or similar government agency), in-house, or in private practice in roles supporting regulatory approval and clearance, regulatory inspections and audits, labeling, marketing and commercialization, and quality system and operational matters.  Experience addressing FDA compliance review in health care industry transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, commercial agreements, and license and lease agreements, is a plus.   • Tort Recovery Unit Manager: The incumbent for this vacancy will manage the Tort Recovery Unit (TRU).  The tort recovery unit identifies, investigates, and recovers third party funds for cases in which Medical Assistance (MA), General Assistance (GA), Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP), or MinnesotaCare funding was used to pay for injuries covered or partially covered by Workers’ Compensation (WC), No Fault Auto, Third Party Insurers, or in response to associated legal proceedings.   • Arbitrator: Serving as a FINRA arbitrator is a great way for your members to give back to their communities, by lending their professional knowledge and experience to the arbitration process. Industry knowledge is NOT required, and there is absolutely no cost associated with applying.
