Special Announcement From the Consistory
Due to the changes the Coronoavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has made to life, the following is a letter from your church officers.

To The Zion Evangelical & Reformed Membership:
Greetings in the name of the Lord who Rules the Heavens and Earth and Blesses Us with his Grace.
After careful consideration, the Consistory has chosen to suspend all activities in the church building until further notice. The federal government has asked that people do not gather in groups over 10. According to all the information available at this time this is a prudent decision.
At this point the medical community is still unsure of several characteristics of the Corona (COVID-19) virus. We do not yet completely understand its incubation stage or its infectious stage parameters. These unknowns greatly add to the potential danger of this virus.
What we do know is that the virus is contagious and is spread by human contact. This means the chances of infection increase dramatically in larger groups. We also know that it is much more dangerous for those over 70 years of age. Although younger people appear to be much less vulnerable to severe illness from the virus, they are capable of being carriers.
God gives us so many gifts. He gives the gifts of intelligence and understanding, which has given us the advances in medicine we now have working on the solutions to this issue. He also gives us the wisdom to take the information provided and make the best decisions. It is in this light, and the love for our church family, that the Consistory made the decision to suspend church building activities.
During this time when so much of the media is causing fear, it is important to remember that God is in control and is there to provide comfort. Psalm 27:1 says, "The Lord is my light and my salvation – whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life – of whom shall I be afraid?” In the Lord, the Consistory wishes to encourage our church family to hold fast to the Lord for His salvation; in the Lord, we can 'fear not'. With social distancing and uncertain schedules, please use this time to devote yourselves and your families to prayer, remembering that Jesus has promised to do "whatever [we] ask" in His Name, so "that the Father may be glorified" (John 14:13) and our "joy may be full" (John 16:24).
Even though we cannot gather, we are still a congregation of the Lord Jesus Christ. Pastor Brian will be conducting a service online on Sunday morning, as well as sending out Bible studies, and prayers. Please use these tools to stay close to Jesus during this uncertain time.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Pastor Brian or any of us Consistory members. The church phone lines will continue to operate, as well as email or personal cell phones. Keep looking for more information going into the future. We pray for the Lord's blessing to keep us all in His love.
Sincerely in Christ,
The Zion Consistory
