Dear People of St. John’s,

This coming Sunday we will say together Psalm 23, a timely happenstance. Speaking aloud, with such assurance, “God revives my soul, and guides me.” In the middle of the social distancing and self-quarantining we are all enduring Psalm 23 is a reminder that we will indeed come to an end of this ordeal.

The assurance that God is with us battles the inclination to fall into the scarcity trap and become hoarders of a sort. Rather, we are inspired to give more deeply, more fully to those we know to be at risk of truly not having enough to get by.

Our Gospel reading from John of Sunday will highlight that hope, as a man born blind is given his sight. It’s an amazing story and I hope you’ll join me during our Facebook Live Stream on our Facebook page to hear it together. Warren, our Organist will be joining me this week, so we will have a little music to lift our spirits.

Please, remember to buy for the Food Pantry and drop your donations off in our Cloister. Remember your neighbors, call, offer to deliver food to the elderly. Check in with one another, and most of all, wash your hands.

Bible Study will be Wednesday morning at 11am, via Zoom. Please let me know if you would like to participate.

May God grant you a sense of humor in our confinement. May keeping our distance be a short lived custom and may we meet again soon to embrace one another in the peace of Christ.

In peace,
Mother Mary+
