As we all adjust to the challenges of our present lives in the shadow of the novel coronavirus, we can take comfort in the knowledge that we are all in this together. Hospital and emergency care leadership, physicians, and staff are working hard to provide patient care, while identifying strategies to address virus spread and health service limitations. Cancer centers are busy putting emergency measures in place to ensure that patients, caregivers and families are safe.
For those of us unaffected by clinical duties, the disruption to our daily lives is difficult as well. Dr. Mike Lauer, NIH Deputy Director for Extramural Research, released this brief video earlier today on flexibilities for applicants and recipients of NIH funding in light of coronavirus. If your are an NIH funded researcher or potential applicant, affected by work and social changes brought about by this pandemic, please take a moment to watch it here.

Mayo Clinic Cancer Center - Faculty Positions in Cancer Population Sciences, Open Rank
The Mayo Clinic Cancer Center is recruiting candidates for three institutionally-supported faculty positions in its Population Sciences Program to develop cutting edge research programs that improve the health of patients and communities. The faculty members will join a diverse team of population scientists to drive innovative research across the spectrum of cancer population sciences with emphasis on advancing health equity in a broad range of high-impact scientific areas. Successful candidates will leverage the extensive resources of the three-site Mayo Clinic Cancer Center (Rochester, MN, Scottsdale, AZ and Jacksonville, FL) and develop effective community outreach programs, including projects to reduce health care disparities. The Population Sciences Program spans three overarching themes: (1) Cancer risk factors and biomarkers; (2) Primary and secondary cancer prevention; and (3) Survivorship and health care delivery/health equity. Appointments will include substantial, long-term research support, including a highly competitive compensation package, technical and computational resources, and exceptional benefits. Academic rank, salary, and start-up package will be commensurate with experience. Mayo Clinic is renowned for its extensive resources that support population sciences research and for its highly accomplished faculty with a breadth of expertise in cancer research. Applicants can consult the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center website to gain knowledge about the Cancer Center’s resources in order to propose complementary programs that leverage existing strengths and expand vistas for advances in population science research. It is anticipated that faculty will work closely with the newly formed Center for Health Equity and Community Engagement Research, which has substantial infrastructure built in the community, in order to apply scientific findings to improve care in our local communities.
Qualifications: The successful candidates are expected to possess a doctoral level degree in a relevant discipline, and demonstrated expertise in cancer population sciences. Candidates will possess strong skills in experimental and/or observational designs, intervention research, and content knowledge of cancer control. Expertise and accomplishments related to program building, including epidemiological field work, community outreach and minority health is preferred. A commitment to multidisciplinary team science, pursuing extramural funding, and publishing/dissemination of research findings is essential.

Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Washington University Implementation Science Center for Cancer Control
The Brown School and the Division of Public Health Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis and Siteman Cancer Center, a National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, are seeking applications for Postdoctoral Fellowships in the Washington University Implementation Science Center for Cancer Control (WU-ISCCC). WU-ISCCC conducts implementation science research to eliminate cancer disparities in rural and other underserved communities. The overall goal of the WU-ISCCC is to build a rigorous, scientific evidence base for rapid-cycle implementation research to increase the reach, external validity, and sustainability of effective cancer control interventions.
A strong mentoring and career development program is in place at the WU- ISCCC, with a track record of successfully placing trainees in exciting positions. Faculty in the WU-ISCCC conduct world-leading research, education and outreach to prevent cancer, promote population health, and improve quality and access to health care in Missouri and Illinois.
Current postdoctoral openings address methods development and applications in Implementation Science. However, all applications will be considered. Applications are considered on a rolling basis.
Eligibility: PhD, DrPH, MD, or other doctoral degree in a public health related discipline, or a doctoral degree in another discipline with an interest in transitioning to implementation science research focused on cancer prevention and control.

Postdoctoral Researcher in Cancer Epidemiology at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine in the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Informatics
Seeking a talented and highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to collaborate on cancer epidemiology research at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine in the Department of Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Informatics under the direction of Dr. Anne Marie McCarthy. Projects will cover topic areas including breast cancer risk prediction, integration of genetics into breast cancer prevention, evaluation of novel biomarkers of breast cancer risk, personalized screening, and racial disparities in breast cancer. The position is for 2 years, with flexible start date.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in epidemiology or biostatistics or a related field. Knowledge and experience with cancer and/or genetic epidemiologic research, a strong publication record, excellent communication, presentation and writing skills. All CDMRP funding opportunities, both recently and previously released, are available on the CDMRP website (https://cdmrp.army.mil).
Subsequent notifications will be sent when additional funding opportunities are released. A listing of all open CDMRP funding opportunities can be obtained on the Grants.gov website by performing a basic search using CFDA Number 12.420.
Submission is a two-step process requiring both pre-application submission and full application submission. All pre-applications must be submitted through eBRAP (https://eBRAP.org/ ). Full applications from extramural organizations (non-DoD organizations) must be submitted through Grants.gov (http://www.grants.gov/). Intramural DoD organizations may submit full applications to either eBRAP or Grants.gov.
