Cerimon House

Spring Newsletter

Dear Friends & Neighbors,
Writing in this space last month I knew that as an organization we were headed into uncharted waters with the retirement of Founder and Artistic Director, Randall Stuart.  What I didn’t realize at that writing was that the daily reality of everyone on the planet would also be sharply steering into the unknown.

Thinking about the changes so quickly transforming our daily lives I’m reminded of the words of Viktor Frankl, “Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

This week at Cerimon House I was buoyed by the response our organization is making.  In the past month our board has grown from three members to seven. Just this week we had our first board meeting with the new members. I’m thrilled to welcome Aria Leighty, Jaimie Eck, Paul K. Ward, Nate Drews and Annika Wiebke to the team. I’m excited to have you look at our newly refreshed website and read the biographies of our new board members. Each of these people are bringing great skills and energy to the cause.  Our staff, led by Operations Manager, Dianna Fontes, continues to keep the ship afloat.

As a collective, we are approaching the future with a healthy dose of realism. That realism is paired with “The Cerimon House Way” which is fueled by optimism and a can-do spirit that we’ll find “the third way” to move into the future in pursuit of our steadfast mission of creating space for the arts and community.  As good neighbors we are adhering to CDC, WHO, state and federal guidelines and, in doing so, we're temporarily not offering events to the public. Simultaneously, we are actively pursuing opportunities to create content and experiences to share beyond the walls of Cerimon House’s physical structure. Stay tuned to the website for more updates on that and ways you can get involved.

Every day we have the choice to determine how we show up, how we move forward. I’m proud of the way Cerimon House is showing up and encourage you to continue to support the cause. That support can be financial, board or committee service, or simply sharing about us in your social channels. If you lead another arts or community group we encourage you to reach out and share your needs and ideas with us as we are stronger together.

Keep Calm and Cerimon,
Will Patton
Board President
