Henry Ford said, "When everything seems to be against you, remember that an airplane takes off against the wind, not with it." We're against the wind right now, there's nothing I can say or write that will change that reality.
I distinctly remember the impacts of September 11th, I worked in the travel and hospitality industry. For weeks our news was sad and world was full of grief.Reflecting on that time, I remember most was how we, as a society, banded together. The word "community" never meant as much as it did then. People were fundraising, giving blood, showing their support for strangers in ways that brought tears to my eyes almost daily.
I'm sure you noticed the same thing that I noticed this week. These dark moments present opportunities for our light to shine at it's brightest. I've seen more stories of kindness and generosity in my social media feed than ever. It's filling my heart and being with hope. People are good and kind.
We are in that moment again, or that's how I am choosing to see this. In times like this, we must remember the context of any situation is decisive. We can choose to see hope and opportunity even when the person next to us sees only gloom and despair. I invite you to see the good in the world right now and know that everyone here is on your side and willing to do whatever it takes to support you through these times.
Keep the faith, we'll soon have the wind and being flying again.
