IMPORTANT UPDATE

In an effort to protect the health and safety of all of our members and friends, we will be canceling our Sunday services for the next two weeks (Sunday March 22 and Sunday March 29).  The Sunday bulletin will be made available online, or will be mailed out to anyone who wishes to have a copy.  We do not have the capability to conduct online services at this time, but will look into that possibility if conditions warrant ongoing cancellations.  We will re-evaluate the situation before the end of the month, and let you know if any additional Sundays will need to be cancelled.
The Lenten Soup Supper discussion Group will be cancelled for the next two weeks (Wednesday March 18 and Wednesday March 25).  We will re-evaluate the situation before the end of the month and update everyone regarding those meetings.  In the meantime, keep reading and thinking!
Because our Easter Food Drive is supposed to wrap up this Sunday, and you may not have been able to bring in your items yet, Lynnly will make arrangements to pick up items from you over the coming weekend.  If you grabbed one or more food tags from the board in the hallway, and have not yet brought in the items you chose, please contact Lynnly and she will make arrangements to get everything from you.  Please also let Lynnly know if you were not able to get the items on your tags, so that she can try to find replacements.  Thanks in advance for participating, even though it's been a weird year!
The Geneva Green Market will be closed on Saturday, March 21, and an re-assessment regarding Saturday March 28 will be made next week.  The market will be having a pre-order, curb-side pick up event so that people are still able to get breads, soups and other fresh foods.  Pick up will be at the Stevens Street Kitchen, 415 Stevens Street, Geneva.  If you do not subscribe to the Geneva Green Market newsletter but would like to take advantage of the curbside pickup, please contact Lynnly.
An Additional Message
regarding ongoing COVID-19 containment steps
With the health and safety of our members, friends and other groups in mind, we have decided to not only cancel services for the next two weeks, but to continue safety precautions into the next several months.  Once church services have resumed, until the threat of virus spread is contained, we will be continuing the following safety protocols:
  • We will provide access to hand sanitizer in the sanctuary, Mayflower Room, kitchens, restrooms, nursery area and Fellowship Hall.  Additionally, we will provide disinfectant supplies throughout the church so that all common areas can be cleaned between meetings and other gatherings, and will ensure other users of the church facility follow the protocols that apply to them.
  • All restrooms will continue to be stocked with ample soap and disposable towels.
  • We will encourage people who are not feeling well to stay home and rest.
  • Ensure that individuals can safeguard their own health, well-being, and bodily integrity by waving, fist-bumping, elbow-bumping, or abstaining from physical gestures or touch without stigma during community greeting times.
  • We will conduct our closing benediction from the pews, rather than gathering in the aisle, so that people are not required to come in contact with others unnecessarily.
  • We will be providing communion for the next four to six months in individually sealed packages.
  • We request that those in the congregation, or those involved in the use of the building, notify the church if they or their family members are diagnosed with COVID-19.
  • We will stop serving homemade foods during coffee hour; instead serving prepackaged foods only, which have not been opened prior to the Sunday they are being served.
  • Rather than passing the offering plates, one plate will be placed at the back of the sanctuary by the entrance and one in the front on or by the altar. People will be invited to place their offerings in the plate as they arrive or leave.
  • Instead of passing the microphone during our Joys and Concerns time, the pastor or pulpit associate (at the mic) will repeat the prayers spoken by each person to ensure that everyone can hear.

Hopefully these procedures will be sufficient to keep everyone safe and healthy until this virus has completely run its course, but we will continue to monitor the situation and make changes as necessary.  Please feel free to contact Pastor Becca or the church office if you have any questions, comments or concerns.
