We love our community and we want to keep you safe so we are suspending all in-person appointments until further notice. Even though social distancing is incredibly important right now, what is also important is time in nature. We encourage you to still come out and walk around the Sanctuary on your own for some peace, beauty, and fresh air. If you see one of our staff, we kindly ask that you say hello from afar so that we can keep a safe distance.
Tours/Exploring Burial at Carolina Memorial Sanctuary
If you are interested in exploring natural burial now, there are two options:
- Self-Guided Tour - Feel free to walk around and explore the Sanctuary on your own.
- Schedule a phone call/video chat - If you'd like to learn more about our project and ask questions about conservation and green burial, call or use this form to reach out and schedule an appointment.
If you want or need to wait until we're able to meet with you in person, we will send out another email when we're accepting appointments again.
We understand that some folks have mobility challenges and need the assistance of our golf cart. If you're eager to explore now, we encourage you to reach out to schedule a phone call or video chat. The website is full of good information as well.
Picking Spots
If you've already been to Carolina Memorial Sanctuary and know that you would like to go ahead and secure a spot now, there are two options:
- Pick a habitat - For now you can pick your desired habitat for your spot(s) (woodlands, creekside, or meadow), proceed with the paperwork and payment (full payment or payment plan). Once it's safe to be in physical proximity again, we will have you come out and pick your specific spot(s).
- The Sanctuary will pick a spot for you - If this is time sensitive (death, terminal illness, or imminent death), we can help you pick a spot(s). We will work with you to find the ideal location at the Sanctuary based on the criteria that you give us and go from there.
Otherwise, as mentioned above, we will be sending out another email when we resume in-person appointments and you can schedule a time to pick your spot(s) then.

Everything is shifting around us and we don't know what the future holds. Staying grounded and centered is essential right now. One of the best ways to do this is to be in nature. Be outside. If you're able, take walks. This is an invitation to slow down. A massive reset. Life is changing at a rapid speed but we will get through this. Supporting each other as a community is more important now than ever and we are here for you. Much love to everyone.
Yours,
Caroline, Jasper, Cassie, and Steven
