Buzz Newsletter Issue 51

Call it what you will, Coronavirus/COVID-19 is going to be an event that none of us will forget in a hurry.

As the nation gets to grips with the new normal; the restrictions on international travel, concerns about the long term impact on the physical and mental health of our nation and worries about our economy, not to mention a whole new vocabulary, we are all aware that there may be more to come our way before this is all over.

At Go Geraldine our relative silence so far, does not indicate that we have been on the 'wait and see' watch but rather that we have been incredibly busy talking to key groups, raising our profile to the domestic visitor market and trying to make preparations, as much as anybody can at present.

While domestic travel is still an option, we have stepped up our social media marketing with an intensive campaign to attract potential visitors from around our South Island catchment.

Geraldine is supremely well positioned to offer respite to people wanting to get away from the crowds and to escape the media.

On another front, GG is working with other key Geraldine groups, under the umbrella of the Geraldine Community Board, to prepare for the changing landscape so that we (businesses, residents, people) can support one another.

This is an evolving situation but more news will be shared as plans firm up.

Please read on for important information but note that the South Canterbury Chamber of Commerce is the official South Canterbury Business Assistance Support Team in relation to COVID-19, so if you have any questions/concerns please contact them and/or our Economic Development Agency, Aoraki Development.

In the meantime Go Geraldine will be regularly sharing information as it comes to hand, whether in relation to local happenings/activities or from official sources about developments with COVID-19 or business support.

This is a time to support one another and check in with fellow business owners.  Please also feel free to contact Go Geraldine if you have thoughts, comments, ideas that you wish to share.

Stay well and keep safe ...
