Kenya Wildlife Trust’s Response to COVID-19

Dear Friends & Supporters of KWT,

Following confirmation of Kenya’s first COVID-19 case on Friday, 13th March 2020, the Government of Kenya has released a set of strict directives aimed to minimise the spread of the virus in the country.  At Kenya Wildlife Trust, we have readjusted our programmes and activities to adhere to these recommendations.

As many of our Mara Predator Conservation Programme’s work involves regular interaction with communities and other stakeholders, we have put on hold all activities that involve contact including community meetings and workshops, school activities and the predator collaring exercise.

Kenya Wildlife Trust has put a COVID-19 protocol in place using the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Government of Kenya Ministry of Health guidelines to ensure that all staff, stakeholders and the communities we work with stay safe and protected. The 2019 Annual Report and other documentation will be shared electronically, for the time being.

In spite of these necessary precautions, KWT remains committed to Kenya’s precious ecosystems and the people and wildlife who live there. 2020 will be different from other years, but our mission is more important now than ever.

With Best Wishes,

Irene Amoke, PhD
