Nature Through A Lens
During this time of COVID-19 precautions, including social distancing and shelter in place, Friends of Lower Haw is taking a break from holding events. In this issue we'd like to share some of the wonderful photos taken in the Lower Haw River State Natural Area that our friends have shared with us. You can also take a virtual tour of the state natural area by watching our 60-second and 5-minute videos produced by Destination by Design featuring spectacular drone photography. View the secret life of wildlife from home through our wildlife cameras. Our wildlife cameras placed in different locations throughout the state natural area are revealing amazing photos like the cover photo for this issue! Check out all the wildlife camera photo albums on our Facebook page to see what wildlife are up to when we're not around.

Social Distancing
Our cover photo is of a Bobcat.  Sightings are rare, so capturing one on our wildlife camera is a treat!  This solitary and elusive creature is an expert at social distancing.  Adaptability of Bobcats in using a wide variety of habitats may allow them to live in close proximity to people, but they are wary of people and rarely cause conflicts with people, livestock, or pets. Instead, they keep their distance and run away. See more photos from our wildlife cameras on our Facebook page.
