Dear Brother and Sisters in Christ,

Please know of my prayers during this difficult time. I have recorded a video message for all of the faithful of the Diocese of Paterson, which can be seen below.

I encourage all to pray the act of spiritual communion, in the absence of mass, and Pope Francis' prayer to Mary (viewable here) during the coronavirus pandemic.

Act of Spiritual Communion:
My Jesus, I believe that you are present in the most Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there, and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.

Sincerely yours in Christ,

Most Reverend Arthur J. Serratelli, S.T.D., S.S.L., D.D.
Bishop of Paterson

A Letter from Fr. Brian

Dear Everyone,

As I depart from you for a little while, I thought I would share the words of Saint Paul. These words of farewell are offered by Paul to his fellow believers. I always imagined them as inspired words of wisdom a parent might share with a child or, in my case, a pastor with his parishioners. They are words of Joy, Kindness, Gratitude, Prayer, Goodness and Peace. They provide a foundation for Holiness and serve as a lifestyle for a Sinner like me striving to be a Saint. Over the next few weeks, I will love you through prayer and I would ask you to return the favor.

“Rejoice in the Lord always. I shall say it again: rejoice! Your kindness should be known to all. The Lord is near. Have no anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me. Then the God of peace will be with you.”
(Philippians 4:4-9)

With tremendous gratitude to God and for all of you, I remain faithfully;

Yours in Christ,
Fr. Brian Sullivan

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS

Masses
As you are aware, all public Masses are hereby suspended in the Diocese of Paterson until further notice. Although no public can attend mass at this time, our priests will celebrate a private Mass daily for the intentions of those who have made an offering for the Mass.  For the Complete Statement from the Diocese of Paterson, visit https://rcdop.org/.

Parish Office
Our parish office will be closed until at least the end of the month. During that time, our staff will continue to work remotely. You may contact the ministerial staff using their email addresses that are listed on our parish website at: www.churchofchristtheking.org.

Emergency Calls
Confessions, visitation of the homebound and communion calls are suspended unless there is a grave need.  If there is such a need, please reach out to the parish at 973-539-4955 and dial extension 2.  We are here to serve you.

Adoration and Private Prayer
Christ the King Church will be open from 10am-6pm daily for private prayer and devotion.  Each day from 3pm-6pm, there will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the Church.  You are invited to stop in and spend time in private prayer with Jesus during this time of exposition.  All organized gatherings for prayer of any kind are suspended per diocesan mandate.

Ministries
Until further notice, all Christ the King events and ministries are cancelled or suspended including the CTK Breakfast Club, Bible Study, Wednesday Night Lite Bites, Lenten Masses with Monsignors, as well as all Religious Education, Confirmation Sessions and Music Ministry activities out of an abundance of caution and to be considerate of everyone's safety.  We will update you as things become clearer and we can resume with scheduled ministries and events.
Need Help?

If you are elderly or in need of assistance to get something from the store or pharmacy that can be dropped off at your home, need a meal, or simply want to talk to someone during this challenging time, there is a wonderful and growing list of parishioners that have offered to help if they can.  Please email Jonathan Camiolo at jonathan@churchofchrisththeking.org or call/text him on his cell phone 908-451-3999 and he will work to connect you to one of those offering to help.

"Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

3 Ways to Support Christ the King Financially
during this Time

On-line Giving
We strongly encourage parishioners about the importance of using one of the available online giving options to help the parish remain financially stable and sound during this time with no public Masses and no collections.  Parishioners can use the on-line giving tool FaithDirect that Christ the King is enrolled in.  Go to https://churchofchristtheking.org/online-giving to sign up for one time or recurring giving.  Any help you can provide is much appreciated.

Bank Bill Pay Services
For parishioners who want to avoid credit card and bank transactions fees, we also strongly encourage the free bank bill-payment services that many local banks offer.  For example, both Bank of America and Chase offer Bill Pay services that allow the account owner to set up a weekly automatic payment via check in a set amount to the parish.  This paper check is then mailed by the bank to the parish on the date the account holder sets.  We find that this works very well and is easy for most parishioners to set up and use.  If you have questions on how to set it up, call the online banking contact number with the bank where you maintain a checking account.

Mailing Check to the Office
Parishioners can also mail their Sunday envelopes directly to the Christ the King Parish Office.  If so, please send to:

Pope Francis' Prayer for Protection and Help

We pray that our parish community stays safe and healthy! Join with Pope Francis in his prayer asking Mary to protect us during of the coronavirus pandemic.

“O Mary, you always shine on our path as a sign of salvation and of hope. We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the cross took part in Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm. You know what we need, and we are sure you will provide so that, as in Cana of Galilee, we may return to joy and to feasting after this time of trial.

Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform to the will of the Father and to do as we are told by Jesus, who has taken upon himself our sufferings and carried our sorrows to lead us, through the cross, to the joy of the resurrection. Amen.

Under your protection, we seek refuge, Holy Mother of God. Do not disdain the entreaties of those of us who are in trial, but deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.”

We Care We Share Fund
PO Box 368
16 Blue Mill Road
New Vernon, NJ 07976

Dear Fr. Brian,

Thank you and your parishioners for so generously supporting supporting Birth Haven’s mission to provide shelter and support to homeless pregnant women.  Birth Haven is a 501(c)3 organization, and this donation is tax-deductible as allowable by law.

Your most benevolent support in the amount of $6,200 from December 9, 2019 ensures that we can provide air-conditioning for five moms!  This will make such a huge impact on the quality of life we provide our moms during this most important time in their lives.  The generosity of your parish will have a lasting legacy here at Birth Haven.  Thanks too for the donation of gift cards ($750.00) and bountiful gifts from the Giving Tree for our moms and their babies.  As a direct result, we are able to provide to those who need it most.  Your donation to Birth Haven is an investment in the future.  On behalf of all our mothers and Birth Haven babies, thank you!

If you have any questions at all about your program or your contribution, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.

Sincerely,

Tina Magarino
Executive Director

Double Your Impact through the
We Care, We Share Outreach Fund

Through the generosity of a prior bequest, this initiative was launched to both strengthen and streamline our parish’s role as a charitable Catholic community. In establishing the initial Fund, parishioners have pledged contributions which were then matched from interest generated from the bequest. We need annual and ongoing donations to keep the We Care, We Share Fund operational. Parishioners can be assured that every dollar donated will continue to be matched by the parish.

The Fund is used to serve organizations within the Paterson Diocese and particularly within the surrounding communities of the Parish. Organizations requesting funding must an Application. Submitted applications will be reviewed twice annually by the Outreach Endowment Advisory Board. Review all the documentation associated with this Fund using the following link: www.churchofchristtheking.org/wcws.

You can double the impact of your charity dollars!  In the spirit of Catholic charity and fellowship, which has always led our Parish to share its good fortune with our disadvantaged neighbors, we passionately hope you will join us in supporting our outreach program. If you have any questions regarding this newly established Fund or would like more information in order to contribute, please contact Jonathan Camiolo at the parish office at (973)539-4955 ext.13 or jonathan@churchofchristtheking.org.
