A Message from Ken
Our thoughts are with everyone who has been personally impacted by the coronavirus (COVID-19) infection. Not only by the actual virus, but by employment as well. My heart breaks for those in the hospitality and similar businesses.

The health and safety of our employees and customers is our top priority. Our office is currently staffed and open. But, we will make accommodations necessary for both our staff and customers as time moves forward.

This newsletter is usually where I talk about making sure your Boat and Motorcycle insurance policies are up to date or talk about the importance of an Umbrella policy. Blah, blah, blah. But, y’all are smart. You know that the team of agents here at First Rate Insurance are ready, willing and able to help you sort out your insurance needs. A recent survey showed that insurance customers want: Easy, Choice and Advice. We’re here to help you with those points in mind.

Stay safe and let us know if we can help you with whatever insurance need or questions you have.
Tips for Staying Calm During COVID-19
  1. Take care of your body – this is the time to really focus on good health. Eat your vegetables, drink water, move your body, get enough sleep and identify things that make you feel less stressed.
  2. Get your information for good sources – local news, CDC, WHO to name a few. There is a lot of misinformation out there. Also, monitor how often you are checking for information. Is it making you feel better or worse?
  3. Connect with loved ones – while everyone in America is social distancing, find ways to connect with loved ones. Whether it’s a phone call, email or social media.
  4. Make the most out of being home – tidy up your home, de-clutter, attack a project that has been on the back burner or finally start something you have been wanting to do. This can give you the ability to focus on something else besides this crisis and may help you feel better.
  5. Find things that relax you – work on a puzzle, dive into a new book, scrapbook, color, play with your kids, cook or bake a new recipe, etc.
  6. Enjoy a good comedy – whether it’s starting a new TV series or re-watching your favorite comedy, laughing is good for the body!
  7. Help others or Ask for Help– helping others can make some people feel happier. You can support your favorite local restaurant by buying a gift card or getting takeout. Be sure to help out the elderly or friends and if you’re capable, ask others how you can help. If you need help, don't hesitate to ask a loved one.

Proper Insurance Coverage for Delivery Service

With COVID-19 forcing many restaurants to do takeout, some may be doing delivery services now. The modern world of convenience is offering us many new ways to get food and almost instant retail deliveries, but what you should know is that your standard auto insurance policy likely does not cover you for delivery type services. Regardless of what you deliver, a personal auto insurance policy doesn’t provide coverage for paid delivery drivers. For this, you need a commercial auto policy or an endorsement to cover for-hire.

A commercial auto insurance policy is needed for:
  1. Freight delivery
  2. Food delivery services
  3. Courier delivery services
  4. & many more!
Your best bet is to talk to a licensed agents in our office to discuss your insurance needs. We will answer your questions or review your current insurance policy
