Call Police for Emergencies Only

Public Information Line to be Stood Up on Thursday: 703-248-5200

  • URGENT: Our police dispatchers are being inundated by calls from the public with non-emergency and non-police questions.
     
  • Starting Thursday, March 19, a Public Information Line -- 703-248-5200 -- will be staffed by City employees (9:30am to 5pm Monday through Friday). They will answer questions about City programs and services.
     
  • Questions about COVID-19 and what to do if you are sick should be directed to the Fairfax Health Department, 703-267-3511 or ffxcovid@fairfaxcounty.gov.

City Actions

  • Declaration of Emergency: City Council ratified the City’s Emergency Manager’s Declaration of Emergency on Monday, March 16. The Mayor urges the community to support each other through this crisis. News Release, Video via YouTube
     
  • Posted to homepage of www.fallschurchva.gov: How to Help -- volunteer and donation opportunities.
     
  • City's Housing and Human Services continues outreach to vulnerable populations. Related, the state declared a stoppage on all evictions in Virginia.

City Services

  • What's Open?    City Government is operational, but only core services offered at City Hall. Building Permits, Treasurer, Commissioner of the Revenue, and Housing & Human Services have condensed their counters. The majority of City Hall is closed to public.
     
  • Go Online!    A number of services are available online:
    • Online payments for personal property tax bills, real estate tax bills, parking tickets, general bills for special trash pick-up and false alarm fees, FCCPS tuition payments and facility rental payments: www.fallschurchva.gov/Pay
    • Online Vehicle Registration forms: www.fallschurchva.gov/VehicleReg. You will be mailed a temporary decal when you complete the online registration.
    • Online Voter Registration, Request for Absentee Ballots and to check your Polling Place: www.elections.virginia.gov.
       
  • As Scheduled:    Trash, recycling, and compost are on as scheduled. Special collections available.
     
  • Closed:    The Library and Community Center are closed to the public. The Library has a number of online resources for eBooks, eAudiobooks, movies, magazines, and more!
     
  • Courts:    The Arlington County and City of Falls Church General District Court has postponed all non-jailable traffic cases through March 31. Criminal trials and preliminary hearings are now status hearings. Subpoenaed witnesses are released. Arraignments and bond motions will be heard. View the full memorandum (PDF).     The Arlington County and City of Falls Church Circuit Court has postponed all jury trials and released witnesses from subpoenas through March 31. Other hearings and sentencing dockets are also postponed. Arraignments and bond motions will still be heard. More here.
     
  • City Employees:    All City employees who are able to work from home are doing so.

City Events and Meetings

  • The City posted a Public Meeting & Gathering Guidance in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The City is following this guidance for its events and encourages community groups and businesses to do the same.
     
  • City events, programs, and classes through Recreation and Parks, the Community Center, the Library, and all other departments are cancelled.
     
  • City meetings for Council and boards and commissions will take place only if they are essential.

Coming Soon

  • A decision about the weekly Farmers Market will be announced by 10am on Thursday, March 19. The City is balancing the need for food providers with the state's guidance on mass gatherings.
     
  • A decision about the Sunday, March 22 Town Hall meeting on the Budget and the City Council meeting on Monday, March 23.
     
  • Information on what City restaurants are offering To Go orders. A list will be posted to the City's homepage this week, www.fallschurchva.gov.
