Kāpiti Community Choir Newsletter

Hi everyone. 29 singers at choir for a St Patrick's Day special, with the basses wearing their signature headgear (full outfits in some cases) and an Irish lullaby to complete the scene. This week read the promised roundup from Kaibosh, plus a song focus on Let It Go, including some audio and the extra verse. I'll be in touch again soon about plans for next week.

KAIBOSH SING 10TH MARCH

We had a great turnout of singers come along to this sing for the opening of Kaibosh Food Rescue in Paraparaumu. It was a warm summer evening and there was some very delicious food & drink on offer. Singing in the open air was challenging, its hard to hear your fellow singers, and next time we'll really hunker together and make more of a semicircle. Still, the Kaibosh song was met with a cheer from our audience, they were really chuffed we'd made a song just for the occasion. I think we were more relaxed for our other songs, as we became the expected 'background music' while people looked aorund the new facility. Well done, everyone, and thanks for welcoming a new community supporter to the Coast.

LET IT GO

The original poem by Michael Leunig was set to music by Susan Frisk. A second verse was subsequently written by someone in the UK (I'm still trying to track down who wrote it!):

See above, see below
See how love surrounds
See the sky where you can fly
And keep your friends around you

Here we are singing on Tuesday night, singing for our own selves, and everyone in the room, and especially for those choir members who couldn't be with us, singing for you!
Let It Go
