Advice from the Fresno County Sheriff's Office

Fresno County is aware of the City of Fresno’s action today to issue a “shelter in place” order for city residents and businesses. The County of Fresno is NOT implementing similar measures for County residents and rather encourages the community to continue being vigilant in their efforts to practice social distancing, effective hygiene, and minimize public contact in line with current CDC and State guidance.

We continue to monitor the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and adhere to the recommendations of CDC and State officials, as well as that of our own Fresno County Department of Public Health, who have been working tirelessly to keep our community apprised of local impacts and helping to keep our residents safe. Fresno County has taken steps to reduce health risks to employees and the public by adjusting business practices and service delivery through many of its departments.

Departments are maximizing the ability of employees to work from home, limiting in-person public contacts, and directing clients to take advantage of alternative means of accessing services and information by way of the Internet, mobile apps, phone calls, email, U.S. mail, etc.

We encourage our County residents for continued patience as we all work to navigate these uncertain events and continue to take basic actions to help protect the health and safety of yourself and those around you
  • Wash hands with soap and water
  • Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Stay home if you are sick, cover your mouths if coughing/sneezing, and avoid sharing drinks or food
