"Most of our lives we operate within the world of duality.
We experience ourselves as separate from the world and from others.
There are moments, however, when the boundaries that separate us from all that is experienced as 'other' dissolve. This experience of nonseparation or nonduality forms the heart of every mystical tradition. In Kabbalah, as in all other nondual traditions, self-realization is the outgrowth of a deepening awareness of our interbeing of interconnectedness with all that is."

- Estelle Frankel, The Wisdom of Not Knowing: Discovering a Life of Wonder by Embracing Uncertainty

Special note: You may receive this newsletter twice. I have two mailing lists - one global and one specific to classes in Southern California. This email is going to both lists ;).

Dear ones,

These days life seems surreal. The fear in the air is palpable. The love that holds it all is ever present, even when we can't recognize it. We are all witnessing the undeniable fact of our interconnectedness and interdependence. We are all being asked to make sacrifices, some incredibly painful, in service to protect and preserve the whole. And at the same time, we are likely witnessing a collapse of many things that we want to preserve - systems that have been outdated and outmoded for a long time. And the fear and anticipation that remain ask us - how can we transform these systems? How do we address, sustainably, the disparities and inadequacies that have become even clearer during this time? How can we shift our paradigms to live with greater consciousness of how I affect you, you affect me, how we rely on each other, and how all of life is intertwined and inseparable. I don't have answers. I am just finding myself asking a lot of questions and having a deep knowing that life cannot and likely will not return to what it was before. We must move forward, somehow, with a paradigm that puts the whole in the center. There are no boundaries. There are no lines of separation. There is only a continuum of connection.

In the Nia community, there are some incredible offerings rising from across the globe. Teachers, like myself, who never intended to teach online, are fast learning to do so. There are, as well, teachers with studios and more experience with online teaching that are expanding their offerings as well. We are all seeking creative ways to stay connected with our communities.

Nia headquarters is offering NiaTV for free for 30 days and then 50% off for six months after. I deeply appreciate headquarter's generosity. This allows us all to keep dancing. That said, the part of Nia I have always cherished is the community part - when we gather together, move together, share stories, and create bonds of connection. To that end, I have chosen to throw myself into the fire of learning how to teach live Nia classes via the Zoom platform. It's been a challenge to figure out the technology and especially, the right audio equipment so that the sound is smooth. My husband has helped me come up with a good enough solution. I have test run three classes via video and am ready to open it up to more people to participate. Tonight, one of my two cats joined me on the dance floor that is my living room. Know that I am learning, with your loving feedback, what works and what doesn't. Zoom is not a perfect platform. It was not designed for dance classes. However, we are making it work by adjusting our expectations and sharing ideas for how to make it work. I am here to serve and can't do so without your input. So let's jump in and experience these live Nia classes together!

And also look on Facebook for the many incredible Nia teachers across the globe offering Nia classes via Zoom, Skype and other platforms. I got a chance to take a class with Janice Steinberg, Nia teacher in San Diego, on Monday evening and I loved it! To learn about Janice's Nia Zoom classes, email her at janicesteinberg@cox.net. This is such an amazing opportunity to dance with people from all over the world - to experience new teachers and meet new people. A reminder that we are all in this moment together and we need each other to get through this time. Let's keep dancing <3.

See below to register for my upcoming Live Nia via Zoom Video classes. These classes are open to everyone in all time zones - this past Saturday and Sunday, we had people participate from various parts of Southern California, Seattle, and New York State.

All of these online classes are offered by donation.

There will no in person classes in the near future. I will continue to heed the guidance of the CDC and local government professionals. Let's all do our part to flatten the curve.

With much love always,
Jennifer
