We have been closely tuned in to the growing Covid-19 crisis.  As an organization deeply committed to enriching the community through developing strong relationships & providing opportunities to get involved, we have been on the phone to local town, elderly and school officials, working to develop a process to meet immediate needs, while also adhering to strong recommendations for individuals to stay home, and when they must go out, maintain 6’ of social distance.

The urgency to flatten the curve is paramount and has left many in need of help to safely navigate the day, while others feel helpless yearning to assist. On top of it all, the isolation is taking a toll, we are not meant to be alone. We need community.

We have put together this form to identify those who need help, those who want to help and those who want to join our virtual "community room", "happy hour" and/or participate in a mindfulness session with a trained coach.

This crucial time and urgent need to disrupt our normal routines is hard, but we can do hard things. Let's lean into each other remotely and give long distance high fives. Let's help from the other side of the door and stay home as much as possible while singing our favorite song when washing hands. Let's each do our part to slow the spread, protect our communities and care for those around us. *If you know vulnerable members of the community who may not be able to access this form electronically, please call them and have them call us so we can fill it out over the phone together.*

On behalf of our team here at SPUR, sending all our best,

Need Assistance / Willing to Assist
Food is Needed!

Essex County food pantries and hunger relief organizations are in crisis. They are experiencing a steady increase in demand from families struggling to put food on the table due to a decrease in income, job loss and access to school-sponsored meals for their children.

We are actively collecting non-perishable items in the shed behind our office (6 Anderson Street, Marblehead) to distribute and also accepting financial support to help us meet increased community demands at a time when fundraising efforts and other revenue streams have halted

Calling all who sew!

We are fortunate to have an incredible base of volunteers who know how to sew. We suspect there are more of you out there.

We have been in touch with some of our supporters who are doctors to inquire about interest and need for handmade masks. The consensus was that a supply of handmade masks could prove beneficial for members of the community who need them, leaving the medical masks for health care professionals. Further, if the shortage continues, having a supply of handmade masks which could be sanitized would be helpful in slowing the spread.

If you would like to begin making some at home, please email us so that we know you're participating and we will be in touch. You can see some pictures below from local sewer, Lauren Noyes, as well as watch a video on how to make one. We found a number but liked these two the best.
Hello neighbor!

Do you have elderly or vulnerable neighbors? Do they know your phone number? We have formatted this printable sheet to make it easier to connect.
