Library News & Updates
Greetings from your library! We really miss seeing, you all. That is for sure!

In alignment with the NYS Executive Order 202.8, the Town of Ulster Library will remain closed and MHLS Delivery & ILL Services will remain suspended through at least April 19th, 2020. Please keep outstanding materials until we reopen and, remember, that you will not incur fines on any materials that you have had out since we closed on March 16th.

It took a bit of work to get us all set up for an extended closure, but now that things are more settled, we are working on more ways to connect with you virtually! Stay tuned for more on that. But for now - Did you see the social media staff takeovers that Amy and Kerry posted to Instagram and Facebook? Those we so fun, lifted my spirits and more will follow. Will you be making art for the #tofu_apart_together community art project?

Reach out to us, we'd love to hear from you. The fastest way is probably to email us via the website using the suggestion box, but you can also call the library phone number and leave a message, we do check those regularly.

Good News! You may now register for a library card online, for immediate access to a number of online resources. Read on for how to do that. If your library card is expired, email us via the suggestion box, and we will do our best to renew and update your account.

Again, on behalf of all of us, we miss seeing the story hour children, the chess players, the book club, the volunteers, the big time readers, the crafters, the T(w)een lab-ers, the regulars, the TofU Ukulele club, the tech timers, the afterschool program, the trustees, our coworkers, the delivery drivers - EVERYONE of you, and look forward to seeing you all again.

We wish you all good health, we are here for you!

Census 2020 Information
It's Census time! and you may have already received a questionnaire in the mail. While some operations have been adjusted in interest of "protecting the health and safety of our staff and the public", the Census is still available online and so far, the last day to complete the Census questionnaire is still July 31, with the understanding that this could change should circumstances change. Read on for an Census 2020 FAQ:

Why should I take the census?
  • By participating you are securing additional funding for your community’s hospitals, fire departments, schools and roads as well as other social services.
  • You are also ensuring greater political representation for your community.
Is my privacy violated by the census?
  • Title 13 Section 9 ensures that all census data must be private, and cannot even be shared with other governmental organizations under penalty of law.
  • Strict policies and IT infrastructure safeguards maintain data security.
  • Questions about citizenship status WILL NOT appear on the 2020 census.
How can I respond to the census?
  • You can respond online at my2020census.gov.
  • You can respond via phone by calling 844-330-2020.
  • You can respond through mail by sending a completed census form to the US Census Bureau.
Who needs to be counted when I respond to the census?
  • You should include everyone who regularly sleeps at your residence, even including: roommates, young children, newborns and anyone who is renting a space in your home. This includes non-citizens.
  • You DO NOT need to include students who dorm at a university, active military personnel, people in nursing facilities or people in correctional facilities.
How long do I have to respond to the census?
  • July 31, 2020 is still the last date for households to respond to the 2020 census.
