DUT FRESHER’S CUP, A GREAT SUCCESS

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) students came in their numbers to the Fresher’s Cup, an event held for DUT staff, the Student Representative Council (SRC) and both Durban and Midlands first year students.

The Fresher’s Cup was hosted by DUT’s Department of Student Governance and Development in collaboration with the Department of Sports Administration, on Saturday, 14 March 2020, at the Fred Crookes Sport Centre.

The aim of the event was to build a good relationship between the students and the staff as sports can break a number of barriers amongst people.

Being a role model to his community, university and fellow class mates is a responsibility Lungelo Ngcobo-Shezi takes very seriously and what makes him tick.

The dapper fourth-year Financial Accounting student at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) was over the moon when he clinched the title of Mr Grand Durban 2020, at Albany House in Durban, recently.

“I am so excited about my title, especially of the responsibility that it comes with being crowned Mr Grand Durban 2020. I believe that this is a golden opportunity for me to develop myself as a young person.

DUT HOSTS THIRD COMMONWEALTH FUTURES WORKSHOP

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) were the hosts of the third Commonwealth Futures Workshop, a four-day event that took place from 11 to 14th March 2020, at the Ritson Campus, Hotel School Conference Centre.

The workshop was a joint initiative of the Association of Commonwealth Universities and the British Council. The international gathering saw DUT hosting 60 students from 13 countries during a four-day event. These countries include Nigeria, Australia, India, South Africa, Canada and the United Kingdom.

SECOND COHORT OF DUT TEACHERS FINISH THEIR TRAINING ON PROJECT BASED LEARNING

The first cohort of 18 Durban University of Technology (DUT) academics took place from 9 to 13 March 2020 in an intensive training style on Project Based Learning.

The cohort forms part of the strategic initiatives DUT has embarked on ensuring its teaching staff apply creative and innovative methods that would have a direct impact on teaching, learning and research.
