O God, the King eternal, whose light divides the day from the
night and turns the shadow of death into the morning: Drive
far from us all wrong desires, incline our hearts to keep your
law, and guide our feet into the way of peace; that, having
done your will with cheerfulness during the day, we may,
when night comes, rejoice to give you thanks; through Jesus
Christ our Lord. Amen.
In the past week, as I have been scurrying around, and trying to understand what is happening in our country, I began to reflect on what are the lessons I can learn from this health crisis in our country. The thought I keep returning to is this: how can I re-order my life, so what is important rises to the top, and those things that are less important fall away?
As we know, Lent is an invitation to return once again to the Lord. In John 15:5, Jesus says, I am the vine, you are the branches: He that stays in me, and I in him, the same brings forth much fruit: for without Me you can do nothing. I realize reading and meditating on these words, leaning on Jesus, is sometimes all any of us has. There is also, in His words, a command to know and understand we are interconnected, and we need one another. I like many of you, have to remind myself that I am not alone. I am grateful for you every day.
