Coronavirus Business Update

The shape of our economic future is now uncertain in these unprecedented times.

There can be no doubt that the public announcements made by the UK Government this week have had an adverse effect on trade and tourism in the Lyn Valley area. Many, if not all, accommodation providers have seen an increase in booking cancellations. Our shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants and attractions face a huge decline in footfall due to social distancing advice.

We are going to be sending out regular updates, help and advice as it emerges to all businesses in the Lyn Valley area.

For now, here are some things you can do:

1. Tell North Devon Council your views

Complete Online Survey
We are sending the results to the Economic Development Department of the North Devon District Council so that they can evaluate them and develop the correct response as things change.

This may affect how funds are distributed to businesses in the near future so please make our voices heard.

2. Find Local Government Support for Businesses

Visit the North Devon Council's website for advice and news on financial support that may be available for businesses.

There will be guidance on how to apply government grants as they become available, so keep checking the site for updates.

3. Plan our recovery

We have been working on a business-focused website to help communicate our various activities and efforts in promoting Lynton & Lynmouth.

www.visitlyntonandlynmouth.com/business

We will be posting regular articles on where you can find support and help with managing your business during the COVID-19 crisis and how we can work together as a community.

What is important now is to keep promoting Lynton & Lynmouth and plan our recovery.

It would be great if all businesses could continue their social media activity and we will be continuing to do so too. It is not our aim to encourage people to ignore government advice but instead make Lynton & Lynmouth the first destination on their mind when travel restrictions are lifted.

4. Share ideas and keep in touch

Working together and being proactive is our best option in surviving these difficult and uncertain times. Sharing our thoughts, ideas and skills will benefit us greatly in the months to come.

There are many ways to connect with Visit Lynton & Lynmouth and keep in touch with other businesses: We will be working with our tourism partners and setting up a network of communication to allow ideas and information to flow.

For now we would like to wish you good health and let you know we can fight this together.

Best regards,
Victoria, Jason & Gregg
