To contribute to PEI's collective effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, and in light of our caregiving responsibilities, staff of the PEI Advisory Council on the Status of Women will be tele-working as much as possible. This may affect when and how we are able to respond to requests. Thank you for your patience.

5) Community Conversation Series: Postponed

Thank you for registering for the upcoming Community Conversation series hosted by the Charlottetown Food Council. The Community Conversations Series, scheduled to take place March 21 – April 1 through the Charlottetown Food Council, has been postponed due to social distancing requirements with COVID-19.

The Charlottetown Food Council hosted a number of pop-up events earlier this month, as well as an online survey to engage with residents and seek feedback on the City's first Food Asset Map. While the remainder of the pop-up events and Community Conversations have been postponed, the Food Council will continue to accept online survey responses at: www.charlottetown.ca/FoodCouncil.

The Food Council set a goal of receiving 500 survey responses and committed to donating $1 for every response received to the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry. In light of the current situation, the Food Council has made a $500 advance donation to the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry and encourages the community to continue to submit survey responses, open until March 27.

For up-to-date information on COVID-19, including the latest information, advice for travellers and FAQs, visit: www.princeedwardisland.ca/covid19 or call the general information line at 1-800-958-6400.

An email will be sent out to all registrants when a new date is chosen for the series.

Thank you and take care,
Jessica Brown

The City of Charlottetown is taking further steps to help reduce the spread of COVID-19 and mitigate impacts on municipal services, as the health and safety of residents is the number one priority. During this time, all City facilities, buildings, arenas, and community centres are closed to the public and non-essential staff are working from home, where possible. Residents looking for municipal services are encouraged to visit the website at www.charlottetown.ca or call the main switchboard at 902-566-5548 (Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) to be directed to the appropriate department. A drop box is available inside the vestibule located in the main entrance at City Hall (199 Queen Street), with slots available for Planning documents, tender applications, and bill payments/mail. Your patience and understanding is appreciated during the unprecedented time. (Source email)

7) CDHPIVP is seeking to interview survivors of severe domestic violence as well persons who lost someone to domestic homicide

The Canadian Domestic Homicide Prevention Initiative for Vulnerable Populations (CDHPIVP) is seeking to interview survivors of severe domestic violence or a family member, friend, or community professional who lost someone to domestic homicide between 2006 and 2016 in order to learn how to help prevent domestic homicide and domestic violence.

Participants for the study must be 18 years of age or older. The survivor or domestic homicide victim must be from one of the following groups:
• Indigenous Peoples
• Immigrants and/or refugees
• People living in rural, remote, and/or northern communities (includes living in a location
where services are not easily or quickly accessible)
• Children exposed to domestic violence or parents/caregivers of children killed in the
context of domestic violence

The domestic violence or domestic homicide case must be closed, meaning that there are no pending court or coroner investigations.

Participants must be safe and willing to have their interview audio-recorded. People can share their story with the CDHPIVP research team by phone, video conference, or in-person. If needed, translation services are available, and travel and/or childcare costs will be covered. Participants will receive a $50 honorarium for sharing their story.
