Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
All of our provinces have issued orders which ban or prohibit gatherings of certain sizes to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
In BC, churches are banned from holding gatherings of more than 50 people. This order is in effect until May 30, 2020, and can be extended by our Provincial Health Officer.
In response to this order, Grace Lutheran Church, West Kelowna, BC, my home congregation, has suspended Sunday Worship services and mid-week Bible Studies and other activities for the foreseeable future. Community organizations using our facilities (a pre-school and some community choirs) have likewise suspended their activities for the foreseeable future.
Churches across Canada with the capacity are providing worship resources online.
For the duration BC's Provincial order we will be taping a worship service on Friday afternoon (the first one being taped tomorrow, Friday March 20th). The video will be uploaded and available for viewing of Saturday March 21st.
For those of you who may be interested I will send a link to the video by email on Saturday morning.
Other CALC congregations are offering online services. Please email me the coordinates so that I can include them in Saturday's email.
I'll end with these words I read today: “This is not a time to panic. It’s a time of hope and healing. I pray every day that God would keep you safe, and that you would not live in fear, but in confidence of His care.”
This is my prayer for all us.
