URGENT! Please read and share
In this time of crisis, homeless youth are particularly vulnerable. HomePlate, a member of the Washington County Kids coalition, serves homeless youth. They are asking for donations of COMPLETE backpacks that can be dropped off at the Beaverton site in the next couple of days. n case HomePlate needs to close their Beaverton Day center due to COVID-19 restrictions, they have an urgent need for backpacks filled with certain supplies to give to youth. Can you help? If you cannot fill a complete backpack, orders can be made through Amazon. Click HERE for the Amazon list. However, Amazon deliveries are taking a lot longer and might not come until next week. The full backpacks are just in case HomePlate needs to close on Monday or Tuesday before Amazon delivers. HomePlate staffing is really stretched thin. If you can’t pack a backpack with everything, you could include as many supplies as you can find off the list and then make sure to include a note with the items that are included and the items that are missing.
Following is the list of items for a complete backpack:
1 Backpack
5 Cans of chili or another hearty canned meal (easy-open tabs preferred*)
1 Roll of toilet paper
1 Package of crackers
1 Jar of peanut butter
2 Packs of beef jerky
4 Granola Bars
1 *Can opener (if you couldn't find easy-open cans)
1 bottle of hand sanitizer/hand wipes
5 bottles of water
2 Pairs of socks
2 Packs of kleenex
1 Hat or Beanie
To help HomePlate staff manage the space and support donation intake, drop-offs can only be done at their Beaverton Office site during approved times. Please contact Amber to find a time:
