You are receiving this message because you are an important town leader. We need your help in leading our community through this crisis. You are a force multiplier and are part of our community response.
Extraordinary steps are being taken at all levels of government to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). States of Emergency have been issued at every level of government and a Public Health Emergency has been declared in Connecticut and many other states nationwide.
First Selectwoman Kupchick has activated our Emergency Management Team which is working aggressively to coordinate the community’s response and limit the spread of the disease.
Emergency Management (EM) includes Command Staff of key departments as well as Operations, Planning, Logistics, Public Information and Finance Sections. Comprehensive updates are posted regularly on the Town Website, www.fairfieldct.org and through social media and will be sent through our Code Red System (To sign up or to update your information, please go to https:/fairfieldct.org/codered).
How can you help?
Each of you have a “sphere of influence” within the Town and I am asking that you to reach out to whatever extent possible to communicate the precautions and protective measures required to encourage our neighbors to help “flatten the curve’.
Those precautions and protective measures include:
The CDC recommends these everyday preventative actions to help prevent the spread of respiratory viruses like COVID-19:
- Stay home if you are sick except to seek medical care.
- Maintain social distancing of 6 feet when in public.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. The health department has a video demonstrating how to wash your hands properly.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands after. The health department has a video demonstrating the importance of covering your cough/sneeze.
- Avoid contact with people who may be sick.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
On Friday, the Town’s office hours and services will be adjusted to limit the spread of the virus and to protect employees and their families. Our goal is to stay apart, but work together while providing essential government services. I will provide you with regular updates to these changes and well as other public safety issues with the hope that you will repeat the messages through all resources at your disposal.
