Swoop's Pantry Needs You!

First, we want to thank you all for your continued and undying support for the pantry. Food donations have been coming in and the pantry has been able to remain open and serve our stressed students who are losing their jobs and worry about their future. We can't tell you how grateful they are to have the pantry at this time. A major shift has been that there are MANY new faces as we think students that didn't need the pantry before definitely do need it now. 

So many people have been reaching out to see how they can help in these uncertain and trying times. Here are a few thoughts about how you might help.

1. Items that are hard to keep in stock and are hard to donate are: Refrigerator items such as milk, eggs, cheese etc. Also, beans - both canned and dried, pasta and rice items, and bread. If you are out shopping and want to pick up a few of these items, they would be appreciated!

2. As it is more than likely we will remain in social isolation for a while and people stuck at home are turning to spring cleaning to kill time, if that describes you, you may be coming across items that you are ready to let go. Anytime an item that lends itself to self-care comes through the pantry it brings a smile to a student. We're thinking of things such as body lotion, bubble bath etc. Also creative outlets such as used (but with all the pieces!) puzzles, games, journals, and other creative things such as coloring books, markers, crayons, etc. You get the picture!

We do have the resources to pick these items up from your porch if you are in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area, so if that is something that would help, please let us know! You can email us at swoops_pantry@emich.edu to arrange a donation pickup.

If you aren't able to do anything at this point, we get it and appreciate your positive thoughts.
