Hi <<First Name>>,
Well... here we are on Day #7 of the coronavirus shutdown... the COVID-19 self-quarantine... our new normal. Whatever you call it, it has been 1 week since our world has turned upside down. When they extended the school closure to April 15, it really hit home for me to realize we have multiple weeks of uncertainty and days at home ahead of us as we all do our part to stop this virus from spreading.
In the past week, I have experienced a range of emotions. Anxiety over our economy and our many local businesses and community organizations that are suffering. Worry over my husband coughing. Annoyance that our Spring Break plans were canceled. Exasperation as I asked my kids to lower the volume for the 10th time {in one day}. Uncertainty as I try to figure out how Lakeland Mom can serve local families and do our part during this time while not adding to the “noise” we are all seeing everywhere online.
I have also experienced good emotions, especially when I've made an effort to look for the silver lining and just slow down. I took my dog on two laps around the neighborhood instead of one, enjoying the breeze with nowhere else to be. We played a family game 3 nights in a row. I stayed up past midnight to finish a great book and slept in a little later.
We know each person reading this is different. Some of you are still going to work every day. Some of you are working from home with kids around. Some of you are not working because your employer is closed. Some of you already homeschool. Some of you are stay-at-home moms of little ones. Whatever your situation is, we are ALL experiencing a new way of life as we practice social distancing, only take necessary trips to the store, and simply wait to see what the future holds. Whatever emotions you're experiencing, consider them normal.
We are here to encourage you and provide information we hope you find useful, which we'll continue to do in the weeks ahead in our newsletter, on our website, Facebook, and Instagram.
As always, if there is something we can help with or a question we can answer for you, simply hit reply and let us know.
Stay home & stay healthy,
