SAAR Members and Sponsors;

We have met with SGI twice this week in conference calls and are hopeful that they will have an official announcement either today or tomorrow that they will send out to all collision shops. The situation is quite fluid as you can imagine so they don’t want to get ahead of themselves and tell you something they cannot act upon.

Here’s what we do know:

  • We have shared the results of our industry survey with them and they are considering all of your suggestions. You can view the survey results here.
  • SGI is committed to keeping the workflow going out to shops except for tow ins which they will continue to handle in the bigger centers.
  • SGI staff is now mainly working from home but all phone numbers and emails should go to them regardless.
  • SAAR’s Facebook page is a great place for shops to post best practices so feel free to share your ideas there.
  • We will connect with SGI and the Motor Dealers tomorrow after lunch and should have an update then. We do know that the Motor Dealers have been in touch with the Federal Government and auto repair centers have been deemed essential services so if possible you can expect to stay open.

Meantime make sure you practice social distancing as much as possible, use plenty of disinfectant on incoming and outgoing vehicles, spent any spare time taking I-CAR Classes, organizing your shops check out online training opportunities (I will be forwarding them in next week’s Did You Know?)

Keep in touch and let’s just work through this.
