THERE WILL BE NO SALAT-UL-ZHUR OR SALAT-UL-JUMMA TOMORROW, FRIDAY, MARCH 20, 2020.

Letter From the President

Assalaamu Alaikum Brothers and Sisters,

As we navigate this unique and trying time there are many complex logistical issues we are having to contend with. As Muslims we are bound to faithfully accept the will of The Divine in all matters. One of the inescapable truths of life is the presence of death, especially during a time that is marked by rampant illness. In an effort to be as prepared as possible, MHIA has reached out to PAAK Funeral Home in Queens, NY in order to learn about the latest recommendations regarding the handling of funeral/janazah arrangements. They have offered us some guidelines, which we will be following. These guidelines will be observed by MHIA until further notice.
  1. In the event of a death, Coronavirus related or otherwise, families will be directed to arrange Ghusl through PAAK Funeral Home as they are equipped and trained to handle situations involving communicable diseases.
  2. No volunteers will be used to perform Ghusl. Families will be advised to allow Ghusl to be performed by professionals at the funeral home.
  3. Janazah prayers will be performed outdoors at the burial site.
  4. Attendance will be limited to family members and will comply with any limitations imposed by authorities.
  5. Announcements will not be made publicly until after the completion of the funeral. Families will be advised to make private announcements as they deem appropriate.
  6. No Quran Khatams will be held in the masjid.
  7. A closed casket is strongly recommended.
We recognize the many feelings of uncertainty this conversation can bring up but we feel it is important for our community to know that MHIA administration is doing everything possible to think and plan ahead during an unprecedented time. We will, inshallah, come together as brothers and sisters to take care of one another. Please reach out to us if you or anyone you know is in need so that we can help in whatever way possible.

Mosque Closure

In an effort to protect our own congregation as well as others and in compliance with the mandates that are expected to be declared by the authorities, Masjid al Noor will no longer be holding any prayer services as of Monday, March 23, 2020. We will monitor the situation closely and re-open as soon as it is safe to conduct congregational prayers.
