AGENTS. ADVISORS. FRIENDS.

Dear <<First Name>>,

As you know, we are now in the midst of the most significant crisis in recent history. I want to ensure that our clients have every resource possible to weather the immediate future as the situation continues. For our business insurance clients, we have sent out separate communications with resources which we are also sharing below. For our customers with personal insurance with us, including auto, home, earthquake, and more, I want to give you a few updates and ideas that you may find helpful during this time.

First and foremost, it's imperative for our clients to conserve as much cash/liquid assets as possible right now. Here are some quick ideas you can do right now to reduce your insurance expenses:

  1. Increase your deductible as high as possible
For car insurance, the highest deductible is usually $1,000 (although some high-value vehicles allow you to go higher). For home insurance, you can go to $10,000 or higher in most cases. You can always increase your deductible now and reduce it once the economy stabilizes.

  2. Update your annual mileage
I'm going to take a wild guess and say you are not driving very much now, so it's a great time to reduce the mileage on your car insurance. Most of our carriers offer mileage tracking options that track only the miles you actually drive. Please let us know how much you are actually driving right now, and we'll adjust the policy.
*We will need your current odometer readings on all of your policy vehicles to lower the estimated annual miles. Please email your account manager the readings. We need an exact reading and are unable to accept an estimation.

  3. Is your car paid off?
If your car is paid off perhaps eliminate physical damage coverage while you are not driving.

  4. What is your occupation and do you have a degree?
A lot of auto insurance carriers offer discounts for teachers, police officers, firefighters, accountants, and more. Please let us know what you do for a living, and we'll search for a discount.

  5. Reduce your umbrella coverage
Did your net worth just drop a bit? Consider reducing your umbrella coverage to be more in line with your net worth.

  6. Do you have a motorcycle or boat?
If you aren’t using your boat, motorcycle, etc think about dropping it from insurance for the short term.
For anyone experiencing a challenge to pay their premiums, many of our carriers have started to allow deferred payments on a case-by-case basis. Our team can connect you with your carrier's billing team to see if that's an option for you. Please know, our team is still fully operational, working primarily from their homes, and are here for anything you may need. As always, you can contact me directly at tim.gaspar@gasparinsurance.com.

Stay safe!

Sincerely Yours

Tim Gaspar
