Highland West COVID-19 Update

Dear Neighbors,

We're reaching out about the Coronavirus (COVID-19). This email has some resources to help during this time.

Your best resource for information that is accurate and up-to-date is going to be the State of Ohio's website: https://coronavirus.ohio.gov/wps/portal/gov/covid-19/home

The governor is giving daily updates that are available live here: http://ohiochannel.org/

We want to be there for you with resources and answers to questions, but your best resources are through professional agencies and the COVID-19 hotline at 1-833-427-5634. If you need help finding resources, though, please contact us at hwca@highlandwest.us. Stay well.

Preventing the spread

1. Wash your hands frequently and for at least 20 seconds. Use hand sanitizer when a sink is not available.
2. Avoid touching your face. The virus gets in through your eyes, nose, and mouth.
3. Cough and sneeze into a tissue or your arm, not your hand or into the open air.
4. Do not wear a mask unless you are sick or are a care provider. They need them.
5. Stay home when possible. Go out for work, groceries, and maybe a refreshing walk in the park.

Care, but carefully. While we in Highland West pride ourselves on our sense of community and looking out for each other, that is best done inside your home. Please share the resources in this email with neighbors. If you have an elderly neighbor please give them a call or responsibly reach out to them another way (like a well-sanitized note with your phone number).

Please note that Columbus City Schools are still serving grab-and-go breakfast and lunch for anyone under the age of 18. Serving at West High School, Starling K-8, and Wedgewood Middle School. Also, unemployment benefits have been expanded, there is a temporary stop to utility-shutoffs, free internet through Comcast, and help for small businesses.
Finally, we know it's annoying and extremely stressful to have schools, libraries, recreation centers, restaurants, salons, most BMVs, etc. closed. And, we know many people think this is overblown. But in other countries, this virus went from 0-60mph so fast that the healthcare system couldn't handle it and people died. By staying away from each other, we can prevent that, so please do your part by staying home and practicing good hygiene.
