Say Thank You to our Volunteers
We have many fantastic volunteers in our club and now is your time to mention and celebrate them. Often we work in our own groups not knowing what others do within the club. If there is someone you would like to mention, send in a few words on how they make a difference to your time at Cork Harlequins.
Norman Deane
by Sharon Hutchinson

Norman Deane is my No. 1 volunteer. Norman has been with the club for many years. He is one of the trustees of the club and served as President in 1982-83.

Originally from Dunmanway, Norman was once a member of C of I but he left there to join Cork Harlequins. He suffered a bad shin injury during a game and retired from the game in the mid 80s. When Norman retired from his sales job with a car company, he started to take on the care-taking duties of cutting grass and maintaining the grounds and over 30 years later you will still see Norman on the ride on cutting the cricket pitch.

Norman has taken on an ownership of the club that no one else has done, this has caused some disputes over the years (including with myself) but Norman is at the club when nobody else is there to open and close the gate, to feed the cats, cut the grass, empty the bins....he always has Harlequins in the forefront of his mind. He rarely misses a senior hockey game (men or women) and he has found a regular spot on our new benches.

In the latter years Norman has been supported by Stanley Cronin who looks after the grounds. The grounds have always been immaculate at Quins and this is testament to Norman. Turning 80 last year he just keeps going, looking after Cork Harlequins. Thank You Norman !
Congratulations
Apologies, Jack Buss (who plays cricket with Cork Harlequins) was also a member of the Bandon Grammar School who won the Munster Senior Cup 4-0 against Newtown last week. Along with Sam Dale, Ben Roberts, Harry O'Byrne, Andrew Dale and Mark Lane,  Jack played a great game and helped bring the Munster Cup back to Bandon.

Cricket membership for 2020/21 can be paid through the following link
