To Our Valued Patrons,

For over 49 years, Allied Arts has been committed to providing the best entertainment & service to our patrons. As we closely monitor the ongoing Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, we are taking every precaution to ensure our top priority remains the health, safety, and well-being of our patrons and staff. This guides each and every decision we make.

We have and will continue to follow the guidelines of our local health departments, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the World Health Organization (WHO). As we stay current on this evolving situation, we want to assure you that the restaurants hosting our Eat for the Arts are taking the appropriate precautionary measures, such as:

Ensuring proper and rigorous cleaning and sanitization of shared surfaces and food preparation environments.

Ongoing staff training to enhance cleaning and disinfecting procedures to maintain a healthy environment for our guests and staff.

As always, instructing our staff to stay home if they are not feeling well.

Working closely with and adapting to the ongoing safety guidelines from our local health departments, CDC and WHO.

We will continue to respond and adapt as protocol changes to ensure the well-being of each other and our guests.

Colonial House Restaurant and Bar and Minervas Restaurant & Bar remain open and operational with appropriate measures to protect the health of the community. For our guests who are at home or at work, they are committed to serving you through their enhanced delivery & catering operations.

The Allied Arts thank you for your continuous support of the Arts and our local businesses during these trying times.

Sincerely,

The Allied Arts Family

The coronavirus has already had a devastating economic impact on America’s nonprofit arts sector—financial losses to date are estimated to be $3.2 billion. Since the first U.S. case was reported on January 20, cancellations and closings have been reported in thousands of communities spanning all 50 states. To support the sector at this vital time, request that your members of Congress include $4 billion—to be distributed through the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA)—to help offset the losses of the nonprofit arts industry, and expand eligibility through additional federal programs to ensure artists, entrepreneurs, and small businesses in the creative economy can utilize business interruption relief.

In a national survey by Americans for the Arts, 91% of responding arts organizations indicated that they had canceled one or more events. Many arts organizations have closed their doors for months to come. More than one-third of respondents expect to make reductions in staff; 26% have already reduced their creative workforce. These estimates are based on more than 3,000 respondents to Americans for the Arts nationwide COVID-19 impact survey, and then further extrapolation of those data nationally using IRS data about nonprofit arts and cultural organizations. The survey is ongoing, and these figures will be updated regularly. Given that losses documented in the survey have occurred only in the last two months, Americans for the Arts anticipates additional billions in potential revenue losses for the nonprofit arts and culture field.

Join us in calling on Congress TODAY to designate a minimum of $4 billion—to be distributed through the National Endowment for the Arts—to help offset losses in the nonprofit arts industry and expand eligibility through additional federal programs to ensure artists, entrepreneurs, and small businesses in the creative economy can utilize business interruption relief.

You Make The Difference!
Thank you for your support of the Arts!

Supporting Community Projects!

"I would like to personally thank the Allied Arts Fund for their support, which allows me to create awareness pieces that, in return, support organizations in our community." Art heals, art transforms. The "Last of Me", 12x36 mixed media on canvas was auctioned at The Vagina Monologues, and the proceeds were donated to Working Against Violence, Inc. (WAVI) - Kristina Simmons, Ruminative Arts

With your help and the support of US Bank, we were able to provide a grant through our Share-a-Seat program so that local students could participate in a cultural dance workshop with the Young Irelanders. The students performed those dances that night on stage at the Rapid City Concert Association event.
Thank you for making these opportunities possible for the children in our community. Find out more about our Share-a-Seat program here:

The Allied Arts was honored to support this summer project to enrich and educate the community on the history and importance of Klezmer music, and also as a fundraiser for the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra. “We as a community must continue to promote the arts by encouraging audience participation and attendance to different events. Or for the musicians, it’s merely just a practice. We perform to watch the reaction of our audience and to feel the energy of a live performance.” ~ Jami Beck organizer

Harmony Bridge is a project that is creating a band comprised of 26-30 Middle School youth from 5 schools in the RCAS district. These students will be professionally trained to perform specially prepared music to then
be shared with senior citizens at extended care facilities in the RC area. This is the seed that will grow into the future with more bands and seniors affected. Currently there are 5 school band teachers and one college music professor committed to the success of this program. The Allied Arts is proud to support this project! If you would like to find out how you too can help please contact us. Thank you!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Allied Arts Receive 2020 Best of Rapid City Award
Rapid City, S.D. 1/15/2020 – The Allied Arts, a united funding agency for the arts in Rapid City and the Black Hills, has been selected for the 2020 Best of Rapid City Award in the Arts Organizations & Information category.

Each year, the Rapid City Award Program identifies companies that we believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These are local companies that enhance the positive image of small business through service to their customers and our community. These exceptional companies help make the Rapid City area a great place to live, work, and play.

Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2020 Rapid City Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Rapid City Award Program and data provided by third parties.

The achievements and accomplishments of local businesses throughout the Rapid City area. Recognition is given to those companies that have shown the ability to use their best practices and implemented programs to generate competitive advantages and long-term value.

The Rapid City Award Program was established to recognize the best of local businesses in our community. Our organization works exclusively with local business owners, trade groups, professional associations, and other business advertising and marketing groups. Our mission is to recognize the small business community's contributions to the U.S. economy.

"Like so many nonprofits, we work tirelessly behind the scenes to further our mission. We do the work because we want to make a difference. To help others and to empower people. Being recognized for this work is such an unexpected honor. Thank you to our Rapid City community for your support of the Allied Arts!" ~ GiGi Lage, Executive Director

It was an honor to recognize Black Hills EnergyMutch UseraKyle Lambert, and Becky Ann Dodge Dingus at Helpline Center's 2019 Spirit of Volunteerism Award luncheon. Thank you for all you do to keep the lights on and the wheels in motion for us and many other nonprofits in our community!
