4. New fabric scrapbags.

Wow. Who would have ever predicted the current worldwide situation with the Coronavrus and the effects on all our lives?
We were happily celebrating the break in the drought in our area (and still are) when our heads were turned with the current news..... "stay calm and sew"...that's my motto...lol
Soooo, I went back to doing what I know how after the initial shock....sewing and designing.....and packing up some gorgeous new scrapbags tooo (wink wink)
I had wanted a little bag to carry a small amount of hand sewing to an appointment or for car sewing, but one which wouldn't tip all the contents out if it fell over, and one I could use as a surface on my lap as well.
Introducing The Tiddalik Bag
Why name it The Tiddalik Bag?....well when hubby looked at it, he said you should call it "the wide mouth frog bag", and that reminded me of Tiddalik the Frog and the Aboriginal Dreamtime story about him (I was Primary School Teacher in a former life).
I googled that story to re-familiarise myself, and decided it was so perfect, especially as we have just had drought breaking rain ...how timely!
So The Tiddalik Bag it is!
Here is the story if you're interested..... let's have a break from reality and head back to storyland....we all deserve a little escape and some less-serious moments!
The Dreamtime Story of Tiddalik the Frog

Long ago in the Dreamtime, Tiddalik, the largest frog ever known, awoke one morning with a huge thirst. He started to drink and drank until there was no fresh water left in the world. Soon creatures everywhere were dying and trees were wilting because of the lack of moisture.

All the animals pondered about their terrible plight until a wise old wombat suggested that if Tiddalik could be made to laugh then maybe all the water would flow out of his mouth. This was a good idea the animals agreed.

The animals gathered by Tiddalik's resting place and tried for a long time to make him laugh, but it was in vain. The kookaburra told his funniest story, the kangaroo jumped over the emu and the lizard waddled up and down on two legs making his stomach stick out but Tiddalik was not amused.

Then when the animals were in despair, Nabunum the eel who was driven from his favourite creek by the drought slid up to the unresponsive frog and began to dance. As the dance got faster Nabunum wriggled and twisted himself into all sorts of knots and shapes to the amusement of Tiddalik. Tiddalik's eyes lit up and burst out laughing. As he laughed the water gushed out from his mouth and flowed away to replenish the lakes, swamps and rivers again.

Sooo... The Tiddalik Bag is a quick project, created from beautiful new Dutch Heritage border print, Mid Summer. It is all machine sewn (except for hand stitching the lining and bind).
Buy the pattern alone $18, or the pattern and fabric kit (choose from blue, yellow or pink binding & lining) $48 (cheap as chips...lol)
I can't decide if I like the blue, the yellow, or the pink trim best....what a dilemma!
What a lovely project if we are confined to a fortnight of sewing in our own homes!....doesn't sound nearly as fearful from that perspective!

Calling all Jane Austen fans, Antique Quilt lovers, and reproduction fabric addicts....This is super exciting....
Imagine a beautiful Jane Austen Quilt Kit with a pre-printed panel so you don't need to sew the 2500+ diamonds!...and yet when it is quilted it will look like you did....wink wink....and also the centre basket applique broderie perse is a panel already done! Well Riley Blake is giving us this opportunity, and I have kits arriving in August/Sept.
The kits will give you all the fabrics, and panels (the centre panel is designed to be cut up and re-sewn together with fabrics in the kit to produce the larger diamonds in the body of the quilt), including binding, template and booklet instructions, all packaged in a Commemorative Box.
Price is $395 + p&h
And it gets better!....there is a stunning background fabric printed with Jane's journals and music scripts (you will need 2.25m), and you can add this to your quilt kit for $75....how good is that!?
There is a $50 deposit payable now via a PayPal invoice, which will be re-sent each month if you'd like to make further payments between now and August (a layby in effect), I have a set number of kits on order, and probably cannot secure more, so please email me anytime, or phone me during my work hours (Mon-Fri 10-4), and I will send you an invoice for you to make your deposit. Please specify if you'd like the backing fabric as well.
I'm definitely keeping one kit for me...wink wink... just sayin".
Well I had such an overwhelming number of requests to offer my Ivy May Quilt as a BOM.....so I sat down with a looong cup of coffee (endless biccies included!), to 'nut-out' a way to make this possible, since the deign doesn't really lend itself to be separated up into too many components.
Sooo...the BOM will be a bi-monthly program, payments being $65 per month. There are a limited number of places still available in the original fabrics....but don't worry there's a lovely alternative, just as nice.
Please click on the photo above to read the exact info/ payment breakdown for this BOM beginning at the end of this month (March).
Scrapbags are back
I have been super-busy sorting out all the scrap fabrics into mixed and varied packs. There are large bags $28 (larger pieces of fabric approx 2 metres - weight 400g+), and small bags $14 (smaller scraps approx 1 metre - weight 200g+), all jam packed full of our lovely reproduction fabrics in our typical Shiralee Stitches style.
BOM girls let me know if you'd like one added with your mailout, postage adjusted.
Packs are available online, one per order as I can't subsidise the postage on this deal (you can place multiple orders if you wish).
Note: these are random mystery packs, already created, and I can't accommodate any colour/design requests.
Order yours here
Well I hope you all stay well and continue to keep a positive mindset amidst the troubling times.
If you require a happy mail of sewing essentials for if we do need to stay-put at home, please don't hesitate to call.....
BOM mailings will start on Monday...I may be a little delayed this month by a few days...I do apologise...please let me know as soon as possible if you'd like any inclusions with your mailout.
As always, thankyou for your continued support of my little business.
.....until next time.....happy sewing......

Sandy
