COVID-19 Updates: How to Help

Since my last update on the COVID-19 outbreak, following the executive order issued by the Governor, the Issaquah School District closed all schools through Friday, April 24.

Learn more about resources available for childcare facilities and families caring for children while school is out.

The school district plans to share more details soon as it assesses options for providing child care, nutritious meals, emergency learning resources and other services needed during the closure. I’m thankful for Superintendent Ron Thiele's leadership in this work.

How to Help Issaquah

There are plenty of opportunities to help each other during the COVID-19 outbreak. During this challenging time, needs from Issaquah’s partner agencies and nonprofits continue to arise.

Here’s a resource for how you can help Issaquah’s partner nonprofits and other organizations that serve our community.

Speaking of our community partners, the Issaquah Food and Clothing Bank announced good news today that it is reopening Monday, March 16, with a new food distribution model during the outbreak.

City Council Update

The Issaquah City Council will continue to hold its March 16 meeting, but in accordance with Public Health – Seattle & King County’s guidance.

Council members and City staff may attend remotely. While public attendance and comments will be allowed, we are also encouraging community members to send written comments ahead of time via email, and watch live online at issaquahwa.gov/ictv or Channel 21.

I plan to provide an update on our COVID-19 response during the meeting.

Health Recommendations

To help keep our families, coworkers, neighbors and most vulnerable safe, please:
  • Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Do not go to the emergency room unless it’s essential.
  • If you have symptoms like cough, fever or other respiratory problems, call your healthcare provider.

I am committed to keeping you updated. Please continue to check Twitter for breaking news, and our webpage — issaquahwa.gov/COVID19 — which has an extensive repository of resources.

Thank you, Issaquah, for your continued support of each other. Our community is stronger together.

Yours in Service,

Mayor Mary Lou Pauly
