Important news from your AGA

Dear AGA friends and stakeholders,

Coronavirus or COVID-19 is top of mind around the world. While the risk in Edmonton and Alberta is still low as rated by federal and public health agencies, The AGA is committed to the health and safety of all those that come through our doors.

We are taking several steps to mitigate risk and respond to the evolving situation.

Here’s what you need to know:

1. The AGA galleries will remain open unless the risk level changes or Alberta Health Services changes its current recommendations. Check our website daily for the most up-to-date information.

We have made this decision after considering the current risk level and our ability to confidently adhere to, and implement, the guidelines and recommendations from Alberta Health Services. To this end:
·        Capacity for our 85-thousand square foot building will be limited to 200 visitors at any one time to adhere to Alberta Health Services’ guidelines.
·        This will enable our visitors and staff to practice, and encourage, social distancing (remaining over six-feet apart).
·        The frequency and intensity of cleaning and sanitizing by our commercial custodial provider has been increased.

2. AGA programs will be postponed, paused or cancelled. While the galleries will remain open, interactive activities, classes and programming will be cancelled in the interest of public health and safety. Refunds will be provided for paid programming. We will reassess in April for events occurring in May and beyond.

3. Hand washing and sanitization. Handwashing is one of the proven ways to help prevent the risk of infection and the AGA has a bathroom on every floor enabling handwashing to be practiced frequently and easily. Hand sanitizer is also available so each person can wash their hands and/or sanitize before, during and after their visit.

4. Illness. We are asking all staff and visitors who feel unwell to stay at home.
Each day, The AGA will closely monitor the situation and adjust as needed. Please check our website for the most up to date information.

Visit Alberta Health Services and The Public Health Agency of Canada for factual and reliable information on COVID-19.

We thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time.
