Dear Parents,
As mentioned in our latest newsletter, the health and safety of your children is of utmost importance to us. President Donald Trump on Friday declared a national emergency, giving authority to FEMA to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, Miami-Dade County Public Schools (MDCPS) on Friday decided to close schools as of Monday, March 16th until Monday, March 30th.
However, after careful consideration and to ensure the continuity of care for all of our children, we have decided to remain OPEN amidst this COVID-19 pandemic. We will continue to monitor the CDC website for the latest information. If anything changes or we are forced to close, then we will notify you.
But, in order for us to do this, we will require ALL staff and children to follow extra sanitary steps and precautions. Our current Sick Policy will be strictly enforced and a doctor's note will be required if anyone is showing any symptoms, as explained in detail under our sick policy recap below.
Schedules may change, depending on how many children we will have attending during this 2-week period. I ask that if you are interested in continuing your child's sessions, that you contact me ASAP so I can plan accordingly.
Thank you in advance for your understanding. Let’s work as a team to keep our children and staff healthy and safe!
Sincerely,
Claudia Mármol, M.A., BCBA
Director of Heal the World Behavioral Services, LLC.

A recap of our
Sick Policy
Therapy sessions must be cancelled in the event that your child has any of the following symptoms:
- Fever of 100F or higher
- Diarrhea (2 or more loose stools)
- Difficulty or rapid breathing
- Vomiting
- Yellowish skin or eyes
- Excessive drainage/discharge from the: ear, eye and/or nose
- Excessive coughing
- Pink eye
- Undiagnosed and contagious rash
- Untreated head lice
Kids will be permitted to return to their scheduled sessions only after they are symptom-free for 24 hours. Administering medications and sending them in the hopes the symptoms are gone is simply NOT acceptable! A doctor’s note stating that the child can return to therapy will be required.
At any time throughout our therapy session that we feel that the child is too ill to participate in therapy or is potentially contagious, parents/guardians will be notified and will need to pick up their child within 30 minutes of being notified. Failure to follow this time limit may result in termination of services.
Just as we are following the CDC’s suggested preventative measures, we expect you will also do this at home, so together we can help prevent the spread of viruses.
