Caring for community in this time

Dear friends,

This time of global pandemic reminds us that we are connected with all people. I hope you saw the guidelines sent out previously regarding our worship time this Sunday, March 15. I encourage anyone who considers themselves especially at risk to not attend worship this Sunday.

Bishop Cole has requested that congregations suspend meeting for the next two weeks. St. James will cancel Sunday services and events March 22 and March 29. We hope to be able to gather again on April 5 to celebrate Palm Sunday and begin Holy Week. All weekday classes and worship services will also be cancelled through March 29.

Part of our faithfulness is acting to protect others as well as ourselves. During this time I encourage you to practice prayer in your home, the domestic church. I especially commend to you the Daily Office in The Book of Common Prayer.

We are currently working on resources to live stream some form of prayer and worship on the Sundays that we don't meet together. Look for information regarding this virtual gathering coming soon.

As we are encouraged to practice "social distancing" may we find ways to share peace and hope with others. Pray for those who are anxious and fearful. Reach out to those who are alone. Know the indwelling peace of Christ even in the midst of societal storms.

In Christ,

Fr. John Mark Wiggers
