Every email I've opened during the last two days has been some version of this:
In light of the growing concern surrounding the coronavirus we are following the govenor's recomended suspension of all gatherings and activities for the next two weeks. The health and safety of our community is important to us. We keep a regular, rigorous cleaning schedule. Please wash your hands and maintain safe social distancing.
In the space of 24 hours, the busiest month of my year was wiped clear of all activity.
Sometimes God interupts our plans. In fact, evidence, in the Bible and my own life, suggests that God is in the business of interupting.
Uncertainty is a difficult place to live in. Even braving Costoc to stock up on toiletpaper feels like a better option than just waiting at home. In The Hiding Place, adapted by A.S. Peterson, Caspar TenBoom says to his children,
"Who knows why the goose goes barefoot. Do you? We cannot know what good may come of it."
We don't know what comes next. What hardships will be faced, what connections will be made, how things will get "back on track" or if we are looking at adapting to a "new normal".
Yet we remain in His hand, on His mind, part of His plan. Who knows? Perhaps we are indeed here for such a time as this.
