Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Friends in Christ, we have made the difficult decision to cancel worship services along with Sunday School for tomorrow, March 15th. We know that some of you have expressed the need to gather together for worship in these uncertain times, so we will be having an abbreviated worship service live-streamed at 9 o’clock tomorrow a.m. Look on our website or our Facebook page – New Hope Lutheran Church. We also have available, thanks to Lois Bailey, a link to find the Sunday School videos for Sunday's lesson.  You will need to download the video to view it. (Sunday School Videos). Bishop Gohl of the De-Md Synod will be live-streaming a worship service Sunday at 10 a.m. Look on our Facebook for more information.

In these uncertain times of the worldwide pandemic, fear is a natural response. But it is not our only response. As people of faith, we know our lives are always held in the palm of God’s hands. Whereas running away is fear’s option, Martin Luther, in response to the bubonic plague of his day, encourages followers to be ‘good Samaritans’ following the law of love. Today this looks like social distancing, one way to care for neighbors and those most vulnerable. In addition, in your particular setting take care of those around you, esp. neighbors who are extra vulnerable. As well, don’t forget to reach out to those within our church community who are needing special care. Look on our Facebook and web pages for updates and potential opportunities to care for one another.

In Christ,

Pastor Ginny
