NB NAZ Family,
Our church board and I have been conversing over the last few days about what steps we might take to promote the safety of our congregation and those in our community in light of the COVID-19 Virus. After seeing our local school districts closing and the steps our local officials are taking to ensure the health and safety of our community as of yesterday evening, the majority vote of the church board is to CANCEL both our worship service tomorrow morning and all regularly occurring ministry activities the week of March 15-21. Instead we are going to offer a live stream SERMON ONLINE, Sunday morning at 10:45am. More details of this will be below.

This decision was not an easy one to make and one that I’m sure some people will not be in full agreement with. I have a couple thoughts to share with you that have weighed heavily on my mind these last 24 hours. In cancelling our in-person worship service, we are going to be participants in working with our local community to minimize the risk of spreading this virus. No matter how you or I, individually look at the seriousness of this virus, it is evident that our community and health officials see it as a threat…so our alignment with their decision-making is a way to be supportive of our community. Also. the Church isn’t confined to a building. We will still proclaim the gospel to our congregation and community through an online sermon. Share the live stream with others and use this as an opportunity to participate in what we are doing at NBNAZ.

Here's the plan for this week:
1. We will hold a live stream shorter message and prayer time online Sunday, March 15th 10:45am. It will be online at http://www.facebook.com/newbraunfelsnazarene . If you are unable to watch the message at 10:45, you’ll be able to access the video anytime afterwards.
2. We also will have a few board members at the church tomorrow morning from 10:45-12:00, if you or your family are needing to be prayed over.
3. Life Groups, Youth Group, Wednesday night activities and all church meetings are cancelled the week of March 15-21st.
4. As more information is gathered, our board will make a decision at some point during the week about services and activities for the week of March 22-28.

Let’s choose to love during this unique season and use this season to be a blessing to others. No matter what your feelings of the pandemic happening around us are…please be compassionate for wherever people are, in the example of our Lord and Savior, Christ Jesus.

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Chris
