To encourage social distancing and keep our clients and staff healthy, the Area Agency on Aging for Southwest Florida is postponing all planned events through March 31st.
This includes our ongoing Health & Wellness workshops, including Tai Chi workshops in Cape Coral, LaBelle, Fort Myers, and Naples; and Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program in Arcadia, Cape Coral, Fort Myers, and Punta Gorda.
This also includes our scheduled SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) Medicare presentations in Clewiston, Englewood, North Fort Myers, Punta Gorda, and Venice.
For the time being, SHINE counseling sessions will now be conducted over the phone, rather than in person. SHINE counselors will still be able to assist you with your Medicare issues, including access to preventive services, cost-saving programs, and identifying and reporting Medicare fraud.
Our North Fort Myers office and the Elder Helpline will remain open from 8-5, Monday-Friday. We will continue to evaluate the situation with COVID-19, and reschedule our Health & Wellness and SHINE events once it is prudent to do so.
The staff and volunteers at the Area Agency on Aging appreciate your patience and understanding as we adapt to this ever-changing situation. If you have questions about health and wellness workshops or SHINE Medicare counseling, please call the Elder Helpline at 866-413-5337 (866-41-ELDER).
If you have questions about COVID-19, please contact the Florida Department of Health's 24/7 call center at 866-779-6121 or email COVID-19@flhealth.gov.
