RAF visit Year 4 for STEM, Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics project work this week. The children worked in 3 groups where they were set a STEM challenge to complete. The children were issued with a STEM kit containing resources to build a buggy to carry a ball over a distance. The children worked in teams to manufacture a buggy built on a wind up chassis. The children had to think about how they could construct a structure to hold the ball stable under travel. The children looked at how friction, weight and gravity all are factors to consider. After winding the axles up on buggies, they were let go to see who's traveled furthest. At the end the children evaluated their buggies to think about how they could be improved.
